The ants struck back. Yesterday night, my housemate and I discovered that our living room was crawling with ants. While the house is faily old, ~50 years, we never had much of a bug problem before– just a few spiders here and there. A huge swarming mass of ants in the living room was completely unexpected. The culprit: a potato chip underneath the futon. The ants trailed back to the infestation that I found a few days before, but I guess I did not completely eradicate it. I’m guessing that the increased ant activity has corresponded to the heavy rainfall that the area has been receiving.
So we mounted our own counterstrike… we vacuumed then shampooed the carpet. We also mixed some Raid with some water and poured it down all the ant holes we could find outside. Then we sprayed the exterior of the house with some Raid, making sure to douse any ant trail we encountered.
As of this morning, no ants have been seen in the house.
