As promised in chat, here are some screencaps from Mao-chan episode 20, the one where the girls visit Hinata Sou. It’s heavily implied that Naru is the owner, and she’s married to Keitaro (“the cheating earth-digging pervert” as she calls him). Horie Yui, who is also the voice of Silvia in Mao-chan has some lines about “remembering a past life here”, “if you bathe here, you will enter Toudai”, and “you have to wear towels here”.
The episode is about the girls taking a break and visiting a cheap inn to relax, the Hinata Sou, and the kawaii aliens come and try to steal the mystical hot springs. Why is the inn so cheap… well… it’s run by Naru and Keitaro as well as 3 old geezers.
I only have seen this ep of Mao-chan, and it’s a magical girl showed aimed at like 12 year old girls. I can’t recommend this to anyone out there besides my 12 year old cousin.

Geez, Naru looks so….old. That apron does not fit her at all. At least she still has her antennae.
so all that time studying at Toudai and getting an education… Naru ends up running the inn? How… sad…
