anime power ratings™ and fanboyism

One of my personal favorite posts is the 0ld Leveling Up entry where I described how fanboys can be binned into different levels depending on the severity of their affliction… now… here’s a practical example. Recently, I posted how Hakufu and Friend’s Fanservice Variety Hour is similar to Dynasty Warriors, and had this image/caption posted:
(Warning! These are all actual comments…)
You’re Level 1 if you said, “*sigh* jason and his anime pr0n” since you’re an idiot.
You’re Level 4 if you said, “Whoa…this brings back memories of ‘Destiny of the Emperor'” since I think that’s old school. It just sounds old.
You’re Level 5 if you said, “No! Must have teh fanservice!” since that’s a step away from being a Level 6…
You’re Level 6 if you said, “I would like you to know, that the meido fuku is more sexy than the china girl outfit. =3” since meido are made for you… okay… bad pun.
You’re Level 7 if you said, “Oh, and those two characters are featured in Ikkitousen and not Neon Genesis Evangelion” since you must know what Ikki and Eva are and adhere to them strongly… to the point of no return. Don’t worry. We’re all going to be here… sooner or later.
Ok, without further delay… the new Anime Power Rankings™
Anime Power Rankings™
- Full Bonta-kun Panic — ok, Tessa came and gone and kicked ass. Though the fanservice hotsprings ep had too much Weber and not enough Sousoke getting in uncomfortable situations with Chidori/Tess. Sadly, because there’s no more Tess or hot springs ep (unless they pull a Mahoro), this may be the last time Bonta-kun is in the top spot.
- Yami to Boushi to Hon no Tabibito — no new releases only makes me want more…
- Hakufu’s Fanservice Hour — can you believe Tokyopop is calling this Battle Vixens? What the heck does that have to do with the show?!? It’s actually worse than ADV’s Samurai X. Anime will be killed by idiotic American companies who think it needs to be American-ized. It doesn’t need to be. :)
- Happy Lesson Advance — one ep left and still no plot. Yet I’m still watching…
- Full Metal Confusing Title — it’s growing on me… like Automail™…
- Tsukihime –I think it’s because of Narg’s “One friend calls it a satanic Love Hina with a murdering Keitarou”. Fun! My turn: “an alternate Sister Princess where Wataru finally snaps and goes stabby. Oddly enough, Karen is still pining for him, Sakuya is now a vampire, and Aria’s maid metamorphed into two.”
- The Big O — Cartoon Network is showing reruns instead of the last ep, and it’s pissing me off.
- Da Capo — recap? Bah humbug.
Noir 2Gunslinger Girl — I hate the weird horizontal bars for this show, but I really like #seichi’s translation notes. It’s like reading Ghost Recon’s manual… shhh…- Maburaho — nothing ages faster than a female pr0n star. A close second is the fanservice romantic comedy without either the romance or the comedy.
