This is the cover of volume 5 of Elfen Lied manga. I know what you guys are staring at, so shift your eyes a bit up and left at the book. Note the text on the book…

For the most part, anime series names are either very straightforward or very nonsensical. Literally speaking, “elfen lied” would be a drinking or choral melody about, well, elves. The poem that appears on the cover suggests it is the following poem, which is about an elf peering into a human celebration. As to how this relates to mass nakkidness, wholesale fatalities, harem incest, and other fun themes in Elfen Lied anime/manga, I have no clue. I guess it can be a commentary about how Lucy/Nyuu and Nana look into the human world, and how badly they want to be a normal part of it… yet… because of their horns (and their need to kill) cannot. At least until they meet Kouta.

Elfe, gelt, du hast genug?
