The highest honor this blog can bestow is an honorary name change, no? Well, in celebration of Gurren Lagann, I’m declaring this “Derailed by Darry” week where I encourage everyone to post (or send in, and I can post) Darry fanservice. This is much more important than– pfft– Columbus Day. Let’s all get derailed by Darry.

The fact that Darry beat Yoko in the polls despite needing to compete with Nia for the DFC votes makes this honor oh so necessary.

You know, there’s a ton of Yoko wallpapers out there, which is obviously a good thing, but I haven’t seen any Darry wallpapers. This needs to be fixed!

Jason, you really should get a Gurren Lagann banner up there. I don’t care anymore whether it’s drawn by me or not. In fact, the more I try to draw the GL characters, the more I think I’m not a good enough artist to make a banner representative of Darry’s (or Yoko’s, or Nia’s) awesomeness. Get stuff from a professional.

What the fsck! This show isn’t as epic as everyone says it is. It’s okay, good at best, but really it’s just an all around anime. Have you been deprived of Haruhi for so long you’ve forgotten what’s good? Higurashi Kai is more interesting than Gurren Lagann.

Firstly. Holy crap, Jason. It’s hard to believe my passing remark has snowballed to this degree. It’s like the Katamari Damacy of DFC, symmetrical docking, and everything else that is proper and good in this world.

Komidol, I might be interpreting this incorrectly, but seeing as how the ‘derailed by Darry’ came from me, this is less of an homage to Gurren Lagann as much as it is a shrine to all that is good and holy in this world. It might not be as epic as you say, and I could see where your opinion comes from, but you don’t have to like a series to love its characters.

Quick note that I re-enabled tags for the blog. Gotta love how WP finally adds tag support but don’t include a way to manage the tags. Then gotta love even more how they say in their podcast that they didn’t include it because they don’t know what users want. Here’s a hint: anything is better than nothing.

I like the name. The problems are that it’s a bit too “now,” and it’s hard trying to find good Darry fanservice. I should have gone with something like “Generic Anime Blog #1,742.” I’ll give it another week before I decide to keep it or try something else.

I completely agree with you. This is precisely why I don’t like the shows. Kamina is just stupid, arrogant, an overall annoying. Simon is lighter version of Shinji. Yoko is just there for fanservice. Given I’ve seen part of the second season, and to an exten I do like it – but why should I quite literally *suffer* through more than the 5 episodes I’ve seen to get there? It’s just not my cup of tea. I mean, I’m not out to change opinions – we’re all far beyond that point. I just don’t understand the reason why this anime is so “epic”. Epic used to be a word that only described ultimate awesome and win. I mean Code Geass, Utawarerumono, and Kanon were all hits of theres seasons. If Gurren Lagann is the same thing, I can accept this, but everyone is treating this show like it’s the best anime since pre 2000, which if you’re people are going to claim, I really need more evidence to accept that claim.

But Yoko has melons, and we must feed the hungry fans! ^_^
Don’t get me wrong, Yoko is nice, quite nice. But Darry has the power of cuteness on her side….her very lovely backside to be exact. Her moon could fall on me anyday! My drill will become quite active indeed.
Also, Mr Person-Giving-Up-On-This-Anime, the last few episodes are pretty much what define the series, and where most of the budget went. Most of the rest, whilst good, is just a drop in the bucket. While certainly not the best anime ever, it does manage to have several degrees of awesomeness on its side. Certainly more than most recent anime. Is it perfect? No. But few things are. The hype can lessen the thrill at the end, but it is still worth it. Ye can’t judge until you have fully completed the journey. What is a few hours of your life worth?
And now to leave on a pleasent note…
