Finally get a fanservice episode, even if the fanservice comes in a round-about way and doesn’t involve the characters that I root for fanservice for.
(For people new to the ajax images, they will load full size, but if your browser screen isn’t large enough, they will resize down.)
Last time I downloaded something from TT that said “Watch this… watch this NOW!” I got some… uh… crap…. but how can I refuse? I’m stepping in, even though I have a hundred billion other posts to write as well as some template stuff to clean up. moy, you need to be more clear in the future, like a 1 to 10 scale in terms of Maria fanservice. Thanks. Much appreciated.
This episode was just so random, I felt like someone spiked Hayate with the Pani Poni Dash Kool-Aid. Demon infests a Famicom, and we get an overdose of nostalgic video game references while all the minor characters get airtime. Hayate, besides a brief nekomimi trap appearance, isn’t involved… and, yes, it was creepy seeing the head butler with a nekomimi Hayate plushie. I’ve never seen anime characters trapped in a video game before. *rolls eyes* Some notables:
We’ll start with Maria, but we’re not done with her. Not by a long shot. Encouraging, ain’t it?
URASAI URASAI URASAI!
Watching Izumi slip out of her robe… I was thinking, “Ratings must be horrible for Hayate.” I wonder how low must they go before we get some Hina x Maria action.
OH GAWD TIME PARADOX!
(Though to complete the effect, Zero Nagi should be chomping on some melonpan. No not that kind. Geez. I’ve trained you guys too well.)
Eva arm. Optimus’ head. Impulse’s body. Now that is a mecha…
Emo facial distortions. W00t!
(Best part was how Santa Claus ganked her.)
I’m beginning to like Hina more. She’s definitely coming along after the previous episode where she played the Chidori to Hayate’s Sagara. Can you imagine the flute section of a band made up of Hina and Tsukasa?
(Needless to say, I really enjoyed that flute subplot. They could have gone the anime reference way instead of teen comedy movie way and said something about Hayate humping her desk. Now that I think about it, they should have done that, and Hina’s “care package” should really have been a Pizza Hut pizza. *sigh* Too bad.)
I for one welcome our C.E. timeline cosplaying overlords. See, that’s a horrible imitation. No way Meer wears so many layers of clothing. Though it would be more awesome if Maria cosplayed Mariel cosplaying as Chii instead.
(Probably a good time to mention that I saw the short Gundam 00 clip, and I’m giddy already. The mecha and the animation looks a lot better than Destiny, but that’s not saying much. It’s also kinda odd that they’re going away from the C.E. timeline… maybe they realized that the C.E. timeline is just a huge mes now. Anyway, nothing says Gundam like bishounen… this could be the most yaoi doujinshi spawning cast since Gundam Wing.)
Hax. Let’s see her take on Konata now…
We’re one tentacle away from being a truly memorable episode!
Finally… I had to cheat a little here, but I’m sure you don’t mind. Maria fanservice is Maria fanservice.
(Actually, someone sent me this image and told me to watch Hayate 10… bastard.)
LOL,, I’ll keep your suggestion in mind Jason next time there is another fanservice Maria buffet ;)
on the 7th pic, the one with emo facial distortion.. was Sakuya’s hairpin supposed to be an Azumanga reference?
anyway, cheers on the new site format :D
Whatever happened to Hayate’s voice actress for this episode? If they explained it during the ep then I probably didn’t know enough Japanese to realize they explained it.
Gundam 00 looks pretty cool… I’m mostly glad that they’re finally getting away from that damned Cosmic Era setting, though the art style looks an awful lot similar to uhh…that show that had a longhaired dude bossing around bishies with nekomimis.

Speaking of which, take a look at the top right of the “Emo facial distortions. W00t!” picture…
Kamisama desu, nya.
I thought Sakuya’s hairpin in the facial distortion picture was Hen na Ikimono from Di Gi Charat.
If I double click in the blue snow flake filled area, it highlights everything. I don’t know if this is so much of a problem. One thing I can think of is that if you accidentally do that, you’ll be able to read all the spoilers.

I can see what you mean, but look closely. The ears are pointy, like Neko-kamisama’s, not round, like Hen na Ikimono’s.
And yes, I was going to suggest that too – because of the Maria fanservice, ignoring the Klaus Manservice in the same episode. Oh, and the busty Yuko Goto character…
But yes, there was much Maria in this episode, or at least more than in most – and the masses rejoiced. Especially with extra maid fanservice in the form of Saki, if you like green-haired dojiko meido.

Loveless? They do share the same character designer.
The mecha references made me lol.
mmmm. melonpan.
Well about that, we are going to see a severe setback in terms of gundam fanservice. With the char design being done by a yaoi artist, the storyplanners may have o work double time to maintain the amount of fanservice Code Geass and SEED gave us.
Depends on fanservice … I guess its going to be the “Oh Geass no” type.
(I guess they are aiming their 3rd Gundam fanbase to be of Yaoi fangirls)
Indeed, I want some oh Geass Yes moments in 00 as unoptimistic the situation is right now for guys like me who would like to see girl characters show plenty of skin. But it seems 00 is givign off serious yaoi vibes with the current casting call.

Sakuya the combat butler
If the touhou community had a higher budget i would just c*** in my pants all day.
what does flute refer to?
sakuya the combat butler
i LOL’ed and fell off my chair…
This episode made my brain feel like fire.
That is all.
Here’s a cleaner version of Maria.
I felt they short changed maria on her melonpan in that last pic and Im waiting for the maria-type ending.
Mikuru-beam rip off was sacrilege. :-(
“Umm, wtf?” was my main impression of that episode.
Am kicking myself for only recognising Louise’s uniform when I saw the screenshot here though.
It was nice hearing Yuko Goto doing Mikuru’s voice again though :)
I wonder how many people got that NG Knights of Lamune reference when Miki summoned Hina… now there was one nostalgic anime.
Where’s the boxcutter reference? :(
I have to say I found this episode boring. The only good part of it was the Maria fanservice, otherwise it kinda sucked…
Hopefully this´ll be the only ep that I don´t like and sofar it is correct.
I loved this parody episode, but maybe that’s because I’m older and played the heck out of RPG games back in the day. ^_^;
For the demon “Tima,” what that Nagi’s seiyuu voicing her? Clearly that was a play on Shakugan no Shana but I didn’t know if the seiyuu were the same or not.
I read somewhere that Hata-sensei was in this episode. I guess that was him confirming he’d created the episode.
Anyway, I love this anime, though it is clear that despite having seen as many anime titles as I have, I’ve only scratched the surface considering how many other titles this series seems to reference.
Well, this is an interesting episode. We all knew that this was going to be a filler ep, and so it was. Great idea (excuse) for the producers to delay a week of proper story. Well I enjoyed the smorgasbord of parodies. Hell, there’s even crappy parodies of DragonBall Z: Nagi wearing that oriental custome with the “Kame” word on her back and that tower in the sky.
Oh well, guess I’ll go read my newly bought Hayate mangas.
Looking forward to this episode!
From the moment I heard “I’m so sticky ~tima” I could not stop laughing my ass off — this & the added fanservice makes up for the slightly disappointing Gurren 10.
More zanyness like this please!

Nup, that was Mikuru’s seiyuu, hence that particular eyecatch in the middle.
Dude! Watch Hayate 12 now!

That’s an RGM-79 GM torso, not Impulse.

Though for some reason the shoulder plates are white, not red. :|
