Wow, no new anime from Shaft, Kyoto, Sunrise, Brains Base, or Gainax. While I enjoy High School of the Dead, the manga more or less ran out of ideas by volume three. It’s a great supporting show, but not one to headline a season. It’s a Lamar Odom. The description for Seitokai Yakuindomo is too much like Seitokai no Ichizon. Ugh. Wolf and Seven Friends features most of the team behind Hayate the Combat Butler. This season looks slow. At least K-On!! is continuing, and we’ll (finally) get the last episode of that Bakemonogatari thing… a year after the TV run finished. Shaft earns a slowpoke award, that’s for sure.
(Is this because we’ve just run out of franchises to adapt? Or is the economy hammering everything? Or do people not care about anime as much anymore? Or is anime slowly dying? Or am I just getting picker about what I watch?)
(But heads high! We get to look forward to Gundam Jupiter… and Black Lagoon 3 later this year! And I’m not talking about the Louisiana coastline.)
(Mitigating factor: have yet to see Kamiya listed for any of the new shows. He, and we, need a break after this epic spring… I mean… Working, Araragi Under the Bridge, Durarara!!, and Angel Beats… he has a major role in four series simultaneously! None of these are bit parts too… male lead in three and main villain in the fourth. This has to be a record. Can you think of another voice actor or actress that had four prime roles at once?)

They’re probably saving their resources for the next season. *fingers crossed* I chalk it up to the recession and the realization that, hey, maybe the folks out there aren’t going to be watching every damn show we put out because there simply isn’t enough time. …Lord knows I try.
High School of the Dead is the only thing I’m watching next season. Unless someone convinces me otherwise, summer season is shit.

Doesn’t Bakemonogatari 15 technically count as Summer 2010? So therefore Kamiya does have a leading role. Also Kamiya is in FIVE shows this season, the fifth is Uraboku, though I say that but I only know that from MAL and ANN since I don’t believe his character has actually appeared in the show yet.
So, no one else likes Shiki then? :(
Didn’t Aya Hirano have something like 7 roles a season or two ago?
I thought this season was going to totally suck too, yet I found enough stuff to watch (mainly because I like sports anime though…)
I think they’re just getting crappier at giving descriptions for shows.
Pretty much a sure thing that I’m gonna watch Occult Gakuen and HotD. Maybe Legendary Heroes, but Zecks is really terrible… also, Asobi no Iku yo is like the soulless offspring of ToLoveRu and Mayoi Neko.
Seriously, are they ever going to do Mirai Nikki, Shina Dark or TWGOK? They’ve been promising me Shina Dark for like 2 or 3 years now.
Wow, where the last 2 seasons each had one new show I felt like watching among the mire, here I can’t see anything.
Also from the image and description doesn’t Nurarihyon no Mago look like Inuyasha meets Power Socket?

I don’t know anything about the shows above, but just looking at the thumbnails make me want to watch at least a handful of them. Last summer season sucked too, if I recall correctly. I don’t think this one will be worse.
Last summer there was some funny gems like needless and umineko, and enjoyable things like umi monogatari and gendai mahou.There’s nothing that really catches my interest here except HotD , and believing I get picker only makes things worse since I’m only 19.
Besides Aya Hirano as mentioned above, there was also Yui Horie, and even before her, Megumi Hayashibara (who was literally EVERYWHERE back then).
Well since the big studios aren’t putting anything good out, couldn’t that possibly make room for some bad ass little guy to come in and steal the show?
Since this is only version one I’ll have to wait before I can give a final verdict though there are a few that should keep me somewhat entertained. At least the melon-pan fans will get their Sekireki.
Yeah, pretty dismal prospects when the only show that looks uncommonly interesting is from Studio DEEN. What has the world come to?

@ Ehji, I may catch Shi Ki to fill my goth quota for the season, since K-ON!! is obviously lacking in that catagory.
I’ve thought that the last three or four seasons looked pretty dismal going into them, but they’ve all invariably had a few standouts nonetheless. It pays to withhold judgment until one actually sees the shows.
Summer has Amagami SS. That means summer is automatically awesome.
The summer season has always been the worst of all the seasons when it comes to anime, so I am not too surprised that there is nothing worth seeing in Summer. But ya, I will admit it is worse than usual….
Looking forward to HSotD, Ookami-san, and Shi Ki. One or two of those will probably end up dropped, though.
Nuharihyon looks pretty interesting too, but… DEEN…
