I changed the look of my blog from the default. I didn’t feel like making it look like what it used to exactly, but somewhat of the same feel. I need an image for the blog, and I had the hardest time trying to come up with one. Sadly, the one that works best is of Henrietta and the rest of her gang of Girl Scout thugs. I place the blame for this squarely on X and N for sending me too many images too risque to post and not enough cute, horizontally-aligned ones.
Gunslinger Girls started with some promise, though I’m not sure how well-founded that promise was. I only heard of the manga being popular in Japan, and that many people were anticipating the show. I haven’t read the manga when I watched the series, and I wasn’t really impressed. The plot for the first few episodes were “let’s introduce a new girl”… which got old after the third one and moldy-stale by the sixth. The later episodes featured a personality split: the series could not decide if it would be some harsh morality judge or some clone of The Professional. I think the series would have been fine if it stuck with one or the other, but could not decide what it wanted to do. In the end, I felt unsatisfied with the overall plot and development of the series.
Gunslinger Girl follows the traditional G’s Magazine trend: people either like it a lot, or people don’t care for it at all. Sister Princess and Azumanga Daioh are perfect examples of this.
I like the series a lot for what its worth (and I worship the soundtrack).
To be honest the anime is a lot like the manga, so if you don’t like one you’ll probably dislike the other as well.
I guess I’ll have to call the Corporation up and have a Fratello pay you visit then…
