Translation: Kyoto milks their newest money cow. And I have absolutely no complaints about it whatsoever. It’ll be funny if it turns out to be a recap OVA. It’ll be funnier if it turns out ADV is the only ponying up the $ for it. It’ll be funniest if it turn outs that Haruhi gets a horse whip this time around.

Everything I’ve seen on this is sourced to Danbooru. Sept Newtype doesn’t hit the stands for three days, so, really, who’s to say this isn’t a photoshop?
After the Otakon debacle, the timing is just too good for a copycat hoax… some cynicism seems warranted.
As I posted on kurogane’s blog, this is fantastic news if true and it refers to a second season of the anime, or at least some form of continuation of the series
Doesn’t really matter to me really which it is.
In any form, more Haruhi is great, be it a second season, OVA or even a damn spin-off or DVD-extra.
If true, they probably announced this before Kanon starts so everyone can watch it without restlessness or despise :P

Possible False Alarm, some people have taken a look at the article and appears that this is just an announcement for the 2nd DVD
LOL, with or without more Oharuhi-sama, I think people still gonna hate Kanon for delaying this masterpeace
I’m confused. I don’t see anywhere that says a second season is getting made. The closest is 「涼宮ãƒãƒ«ãƒ’ã®æ†‚鬱2ã€, which is referring to the release of the 2nd DVD in August.
I do believe some Japanese media has mentioned that there is a talk within KyoAni and the Book Publishers about making the 2nd season. I have no idea how serious the talk is or whether the source is credible. To tell the truth, Haruhi series is too potent a cash cow for the business people to not give majority of their attention.
No one said anything about a second season. It could be a recap OVA, movie, or Youtube clip for all we know… it just says, “Suzuymia Haruhi RETURNS!! The story isn’t over yet.” Since it’s Newtype, you would assume it to cover new and upcoming anime rather than the DVD release of an older show. But if it isn’t a second season, I’d be surprised.

Even if it isn’t a second season, after seeing how much response they are getting from a slight rumor about one (and thats an understatement), they have to make it now.

According to the first pic, its just an advertisment for the 2nd DVD that’s being released on the 25yh this month.
Irony would be after multiple ‘Cries Wolf’, the announcement of the real deal is met with bitter disbelief.

Oh, I can finally post on this blog again. Seems like my browser has decided to fix itself…
Anyway, I have bought the 2 first 2 DVDs and I just love them! Here are some features of the DVDs:
1)The limited editions come with a soundtrack cd each. The first one consists of the bgms used in Adventures of Mikuru-chan Ep 00 and a radio show with the 3 heroines seiyuus. The second one consists of the bgms used in Episodes 2 and 3 and more of the radio show.
2)The first dvd has a 20 min clip showing the making of the Haruhi commercial. Yes 20 mins of Hirano Aya goodness! She’s frigging cute! The 2nd dvd has a 15 min clip showing the making of the 2nd Haruhi commercial. Yet more Aya goodness!
3)The best feature of all is the remaking of TV episode 2. Yes, KyoAni has decided to put a Director’s cut of episode 2 with additional scenes and dialogue! It was amazing! Watching Episode 2 again was such a thrill!
4)The only down side (to me) is that the episodes are now shown in their proper order. That means no more episode jumping. The adventures of Mikuru is now like an extra ep. And the dvd previews for next episodes are now done with a Yuki voice-over. Yes, Yuki says “Next on SHNY, bla bla. Watch it”

i dont get why the episodes should now be in proper order on DVD. Does this mean the shuffling was for no purpose?!
the shuffling was meant more for keeping the series interesting and slightly original… if they didn’t, it probably would have been seen as yet another harem-anime type of thing, IMO…
on another hand, if they did announce a second season, wouldn’t it be on more mag’s than just newtype?
btw, that cover pic is freaking pwnsome… i kinda hope they would release a non-text ver. of it… would be wonderful :D
Heh..any Haruhi news to me is great. Whether it be a DVD coming out or a character cd. At least the cover looks good….:D
Good thing I found out about this all just now had I been early I would be disappointed with access to not one but two magazines of pyro.
Oh well, more Haruhi-sama is great, second season would have been fantastic. In the mean time the CDs will stop me from madness.
So the Computer Club President’s ficticious girlfriend is now missing? I assume of coures that multiple Mikuru moe-modes don’t count, though All Woman Mikuru is present and hopefully will be accounded for in Season 2.

Well, I just looked through the scans. So this is what I found out.
1) Scan 1 is a real scan of the actual magazine. Absolutely no photoshopping here. The title “Haruhi Returns” is just a propaganda gimmick on NewType’s part.
2) Scan 2 shows that “Haruhi Returns” is the title of the article in this mag. And this article focuses on a 100 questions and answers session with the Director and the Series Producer of the anime. The questions here are mostly about their thoughts and views on making the anime.
3)Scan 3 continues the interview session with the 2 big shots of the anime. But here 2 questions are highlighted. When asked whether there will be a season 2, the director says “To be able to grant the fans’ wishes is a rather nice thought” while the producer says “To say the words [Let’s do it!] is not an impossibility”. So I guess we know the directors are not opposed to the idea. Which is a good thing.
4)Scan 4 is an interview with Hirano Aya about her thoughts and views about Haruhi. One word, Cute.
