Aya Hirano’s the Francisco Liriano of seiyuu. I’d be shocked if she doesn’t crank out a few Cy Youngs over the next few years. Upcoming starring role for Aya is for Sumomomo Momomo: The Strongest Bride on Earth (starts Oct 5), adapted from the manga of the same name. I know nothing of this show except it has a website.
(Though technically, isn’t Miki’s mom the strongest bride on Earth? Who or what could top her? I scared…)

I wouldn’t call her a Liriano, but more of a Brandon Webb or a Roy Oswalt, who have been around for at least a few years, but went under the SportsCenter radar until now. Whereas Liriano just busted out this year after only pitching like 20 innings last year. Enomoto Atsuko circa 1999 or 2001 would be more like Francisco Liriano I think.

Great segue for my AL pennet race rant… I think that the Twins would be leading the AL Central now if they started with Liriano at the start of the season like the Tigers did with Verlander. Liriano would be worth at least 3-4 extra wins by now.
As for ROY, I’m going with Verlander. Liriano gets much better run support. Morneau and Mauer or Pudge and Ordonez? As for Weaver, he shares too much of his brother’s choking DNA.
As for the Hirano comparison, while Aya did work on KG, she was like 13 at the time. So it’s like Liriano in the minors. Then Always My Santa would be her stint as a reliever. Finally, like how Liriano busted out with that 11-1 streak, Aya busted out with Haruhi. Aya’s current college years could be like Liriano’s current injury. (Worse case scenarios for both are also similiar… imagine Liriano undergoing Tommy John surgery or Aya hooking up with the Japanese Kevin Federline… *shudder*)
I demand Aya to cosplay as haruhi while doing this pose! it would make my day!
