sudden pizza hut craving

Deliciously atrociously ridiculously crazy cheesy enjoyable.
I don’t think Code Geass has made any sense since Euphie went Rambo on us, and even then, when I say “made any sense” I mean “isn’t completely 100% inexplicable in a Mai Otome kind of way.” This “conclusion” to this first season isn’t very fulfilling either. Instead of getting resolution, we get a lot of assumptions and instead of closure, we get “Wait, shouldn’t they be wrapping up the plot?” looks to our faces. I mean, what ever happened to CC’s past? What happened to Shirley and the rest of the students? What happened with the Britannia/Area 11 conflict for that matter?
Still, despite the considerable plot and writing failings, there’s something oddly enjoyable about the last few episodes. There’s a certain charm to Code Geass that I can’t deny. Like a good stuffed crust pizza, it’s just ridiculously cheesy. The final scene between Lulu and Suzaku and Karen? Well, reminded me of any bad 90210 or Melrose Place scenario. I think Sunrise tried to ramp up the melodrama, and it didn’t work… but I did find the scene to be unintentionally funny. Watching Lulu and Suzaku desperately trying to spew their reasons why they’re doing what they’re doing, accusing the other, and Lulu revealing that bomb? With a trembling and confused Karen in the back? It was tremendous, just probably not in the way that they had intended.
I definitely enjoyed all the “Oh, why the fuck not?” moments in the series: From Karen’s shower scene, to Euphie going rambo, to all the Pizza Hut references and Cheese-kun, to random Villetta fanservice/subplot that didn’t really go anyway meaningful, to Mao’s clapping, to table humping, to random arranged marriages, to Orange-kun, and, of course, to all the OH GEASS NO! moments. Lulu and Suzaku, R.I.P..
Notables
Just like how we got a bunch of random otome towards the end of that series, we get a lot of random mecha pilots here. Cecile?!? Not that I’m complaining, but I didn’t see that one coming. But I did see Nina pulling a Heero Yui on us coming. You knew she was going to get off her rocker after what happened to Euphie, though I still think it would have been better if at the final climax, she kills Lulu.
(Not as good as Karen’s shower scene, but what is?)
It can’t be a Sunrise finale if dead people don’t return. Whew. I’m glad Orange-kun has taken care of that quota, I was beginning to worry.
(Yeah, somehow this anime series started off as about a rebellion or something and seemed somewhat realistic in how they depicted the mecha battles and the rebellion… and now… we’ve got scenes like Orange-kun plugged into a spinning yo-yo of death. What series plummeted faster from trying to formulate a coherent plot to just random pandering to the masses? This or Zero no Tsukaima?)
It also can’t be a Sunrise finale if someone or thing isn’t getting pieced or stabbed. I can almost see the final arc for Gundam 00 in my head right now.
Like how they just attach a random arm to Nishiki. Going from that pimp fiery arm/claw to this generic piece of shit must be like going from dating Justin Timberlake to dating some unemployed white trash backup dancer.
Is it too late to toss Cornelia into a cameo appearance in High School of the Dead, joining Nayuki and Tsukasa?
And I did enjoy all of her emo facial distortions all episode long. Fantastic! She was so frickin’ nuts during that fight with Lulu.
I’m just glad it wasn’t Suzaku who kissed him. This kiss, though, felt really tacked on.
(I am curious how they continue on with this franchise with the subpar, which is being generous, writing the past 2… 4… 8… 13… baker’s dozen episodes. It’s like… well… trashed. It’s probably the same feeling as eating an extra-large stuffed crust pizza with a side of buffalo wings– sure, you can do it, but you’re not going to feel well afterwards. I think that the only way that they can save this mess is just to start over and reboot Higurashi-style and introduce CC’s twin sister, Shion.)
yeah, needs more shion, just for madness.
I really wish I knew what you meant by Zero no Tsukaima having a ruined incoherent plot, I do not know what happened in the manga but it seems like to me there is a plot line with comical episodes in between. Was the manga really so much better?
Ending of CG 24-25 made me like the series again, of course the spinning mecha Yo-Yo of death kinda left me with this wtf are you thinking feeling. I let rollerskates pass and it grew on me but now yo-yo’s aren’t gonna ever be fine with me.
I’m actually looking forward to the second season, wow.
I hope Cornelia lives to see the second season, but she did have one last glorious charge nonetheless.
As for Cecile it wasn’t that far fetched she is still a soldier she at least had to be able to shoot something and operate heavy equipment. If Rivalz got in a cockpit that really would have been surprising.
I really wanted to see Tamaki dead though, he’s fucking annoying. Well there is still season 2.
Zero no Tsukaima is based off the light novel series. Go to the AquaStar fansub forums to get some juicy summaries from Sushi-Y.
Orange-kun is piloting an orange! =/
And yes, Sunrise really sucks when it comes to wrapping up a story. They just can’t seem to do it without either being full of plotholes, a cliffhanger, or bringing back the dead.
Cecile fanservice was pretty much the highlight of the two episodes for me. Second is someone’s sister bursting into a delicious explosion.
“What series plummeted faster from trying to formulate a coherent plot to just random pandering to the masses? This or Zero no Tsukaima?”
Zero no Tsukaima didn’t need to plummet. It’s been just a pulpy romance novel from the beginning, so if anything the anime needs to work *harder* to plummet into the saucier elements of the original story. Of course, it seems that they may very well be heading that direction, so for now it’s probably best just to sit back and enjoy the train wreck.
Swiss chesse-like plot development and questionable aerodynamics aside, just watch it for what it is – a glorified harem comedy with a little somethin’ somethin’ extra. By which I mean, Siesta, obviously.
You know what really got me about the ending of CG? The final final screen of “the sequel is progressing smoothly, look forward to it!” My ass, that’s basically an excuse to not wrap up any story what so ever and just tease the audience with wanting to know what’s gonna happen even more …
What’s so annoying about this series though is that when it started it just had such an awesome potential, and then it all just went downhill.
Actually, I liked the episodes. That’s because I never was expecting a coherent ending. I watched the series for melodrama and a high body count, both of which CG delivered.
Who needs a good plot. A crazed and revived Orange-kun is just fine.
I have to agree on this a bit, I really like the the last 2 eps but the yoyo was really a wtf is this? or Rather i should say flying orange. Its orange and has a top Green stemleaf thingy. I really want to know what he was thinking when he decided to hijack that mecha (to add insult to his name) and escape out the lab. However while i was watching this it really hype me up again for the series and i was expecting some kind of epic ending… then i got the credits, and was seriously going WTF wheres the ending, aren’t they even going to try to vaguely give it some kinda close, or at least answer a tiny bit of the story?! Afterwards, cause my adrenaline was pumping and it didn’t even vaguely end. I proceeded to jump into my pool and swam a couple of laps while going WTF! Though now i can’t wait for season 2.
well, ridiculous orange-mecha aside, here’s to waiting for Suzaku of the Counterattack and Nunally’s KnightMare.
Wonder what Suzaku meant with Nunally… that did make Lelouch crazy so it must have been something terrible.
season 2 is a must see.
C.C. can never die. Only the actors who play her. OH YEAH!
Joking aside, I didn’t like that ending one bit. They should have just had the Chinese Federation come in and save the day. Unless I’m mistaken, someone said that they were closing in on Area 11. The only thing I did like about the ending was C.C.’s speech about happiness.
(Spam protection: Sum of 2 + 9 ? 11 OH SNAP)
It felt a little like “let’s kill off a bunch of minor characters just to show we can” (which feels kind of familiar) and a little like “let’s leave the fate of a bunch of major characters unknown in case the actors involved decide not to come back”. No complaints though, there was Cecile-service and hints of more explanations of C.C.’s past. (Lulu was way harsh on her – I liked her throwing his “you only say things to advantage yourself!” line back at him.)

That’s exactly why I stopped watching it. Not because of the cliffhangers and plot holes (hell, I watch enough western TV to get used to those. I’m looking at you Galactica), but because my dreams of “Hey, here’s a mecha series which seems to be throwing out the usual ‘Kill entire armies with a single blast while backflipping 100 tons of metal’ crap and going with some gritty realism” were brutally crushed early on and gradually got beaten to a pulp. Only kept watching it in the hopes that Kallen would perform a striptease to distract some guards.
(Spam protection: Sum of one + ten ? 11 DOUBLE SNAP!)
Great shot of emo-distorted Cornelia making a =3 face. Why all the Sunrise hate? If you’re going to be trashy, be REALLY REALLY trashy.
(Spam protection: Sum of four + 7 ? 11 TRIPLE SNAP TRIFECTA!!!)
If Suzaku had kissed Lulu, it would have made MORE sense than any of the incoherent ramble that went on between episodes 22-25. Where has the half decent show that was Code Geass gone? I honestly spent more time laughing at what was going on than actually going “ooo” or “ahh” at the story and characters. There isn’t going to be any way that Sunrise is going to conclude this properly because the story is just a mess. With the rebellion suppressed now (it seems) and people who matter knowing that Zero = Lulu, where does the plot go? Now we get a new group of characters who were never introduced properly in the first place… and I’m supposed to get excited over that? I think the only thing, plotwise, that I want to know more about is C.C. The rest of it all is just so far from how the series started, that I doesn’t matter one way or the other.
Utter train wreck.
Maybe the folks at Sunrise have been eating too much of this?

But that’s the thing isn’t it? We don’t know what going to happen. Heroes being thrown into one hopeless situation after another is something hardly new, the the great thing IMO is seeing how overcome them and what adds to their character.

It’s still the samething as it was the in beginning. Orange has mostly been comical relief ever Lulu humilated him, so I’m surprised anyone expected much from him.
Personally I enjoyed 24-25 myself . The only things that bother is we didn’t get much plot progession and the ending, due how long we have to wait until the second season (which is in October). I’m sure through that at the end of CG everything that needs be explain will be, this isn’t the Mai HiME/Otome team here.
BTW Jason, Orange never died as we see him being picked up by doctors in ep 11 after the battle at Nartia.

Geass-style random fanservice + Sonozaki DNA? OH GEASS YES! Sign me up for that one.
BTW Jason, Orange never died as we see him being picked up by doctors in ep 11 after the battle at Nartia.
We all know Orange-kun wasn’t actually dead. Neither were most of the “OMG your alive WTF” Sunrise finale returnees. It’s just that as far as the larger plot and most of the main characters were concerned, he died about 15 episodes back.
It’s still the samething as it was the in beginning. Orange has mostly been comical relief ever Lulu humilated him, so I’m surprised anyone expected much from him.
It’s not so much Orange himself, as what he and his spikey-ball-o-doom represents. The opening scenes showing the invasion of Japan had me thinking “Hey, maybe this is a mecha series that doesn’t need to rely on super-bots laying waste to entire armies!” Even when Lancealot and Nuke-arm were bouncing around, they at least had the decency to concentrate on each other, allowing the rest of the battle to proceed without mega-beams of death and acrobatic 100 ton robots. Then episode 20 trundled along and what do we see? The Gawain wiping out entire regiments with a single blast. A few blasts later, the Chinese are defeated, the war is won and I die a little inside.
Well, the real question here is… will be Code Geass Second Season very similar to Gundam Seed Destiny, when they totally destroy the good work done with Gundam Seed. I want to believe they won’t but you never knew what will happen with SUNRISE.
Another thing; we all know that her sister I the BIGGEST reason for this hold rebellion thing, still he let everything go to Hell because of her. The Order of the Black Knights is hopeless without him; everything they worded for is being torn apart and everyone who fought for Zero is dead or will die soon. I can’t picture anything about the 2nd season right now; but I have hope. ZegaPain was a good example.
I’ll cross my fingers since now.
quigonkenny: Ah, I see. But I think it’s better that it was clearled up now than leave hanging as another unresolved plot point, especially when they kept showing to him in epsodes prior. Atleast we know it connects with what they were doing with C.C., I just hope he stays at the under the sea and hopefully will some how C.C escapes.

I don’t see any wrong with Gawain being able to destory large fleets of ships because it really is THAT powerful, due abitilies such as cloaking, flight and it’s long artillery that few units actually have, however it is not omipotnent as ep 24 showed. The Hadron Cannon it’s only major weapon, and it along with its flight systems takes of energy to uses. It’s horrid at close range since it’s far to slow to use much of it’s capabities.
It also could not get near the government building without taking too much from damage it’s defense, nor can take much damage in general.
These flaws may have to do with Gawain being a prototype and all.
So, if were that easy just send Gawain down into the Tokyo Settlement blasting everything apart there would be no need for Lulus’s trap at the beginning, nor OoBK.
They didn’t wrap it up because the anime fans are all raving for more. Yeah, I haven’t met any of those said fans either, but that’s what they tell me.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Code_Geass#Reception
Code Geass anime can be compared to BECK manga which keeps me anticipating for the next volume/episode damn maybe they figure out the secret formula to atract people but if time slips by very quickly don’t know what would be the possible outcome. This type of strategy is really annoying hope they plan to finish both quickly as possible before the hype is taken by others.
Code Geass just became camp, in a funny way …
I watched this with, I think, Your-mom subs and when they added joke subs make the whole thing far more enjoyable.
This does indicate Sunrise cannot do anything besides following the Gundam model, Gawain is a example of that were the “hero” gets a mech that can PWN pretty much everything (Lancelot worked because it was a wild card when it come to battles, Guren Nishiki was pretty much the way to counter Lancelot but Gawain … no, its simply UBER and do not give me the crap of “its a prototype” since so is Lancelot).
i don’t care anymore. just shoot me. no way can i ever hate this show. none. i won’t accept it. Not even with fast food advertising and unbalanced mecha.
Here’s to waiting for code geass destiny
…umm yeah, did we actually resolve anything there? No? Could have made a better use of 50 minutes than having everything go to badly explained pieces, hmm?
Cornelia dying was as bad if Hanyuu died. Again.
Well let’s hope Nunally can be badass in season two.
Seriously will I watch? Without my purple haired sister complex princess? No way in hell.
Er….. Jerimiah never died, he clearly ejected from the cockpit of his Knightmare when it was destroyed, but I guess since that doesn’t fit into your usual Sunrise bashing regiment you probably ignored it. Quite typical. Why does everybody have no faith in Sunrise anymore, but all the faith in the world in Kyoani based on One or two series a piece.
about V.V an important guy
A mysterious child who is able to communicate telepathically with C.C., V.V. also possesses superhuman abilities and is connected to the Geass. V.V.’s first action within the series was to transport Lelouch, Suzaku, Kallen, and Euphemia to Kamenijima Island, apparently on a whim. Later, he apparently encourages C.C. to tell the Black Knights that Zero is alive, which does nothing but get her into a minor arguement with Tamaki. According to interviews with series composer and screenplay author Ichiro Okouchi, V.V. is male, and in the future will have some connection with Nunnally.
Just finished the whole series today….
Yeah. Everything is a mess now and I feel want to poke my head on the Ending screen….
I don’t even dare to think How the second season will come out as…..
Well – regardless if you liked it or not it kicked arse for me.
We have Lelouche rising the stakes in an all or nothing assault on the fortress City of Tokyo, laying the outskirts in ruin.
We have the result of that undecided, there are elite units – this is a mecha anime and bits of this concept of the elite model are going to go through.
Lancelot was in there, that was the mistake, the Gurgen would have worked even if the Lancelot wasn’t deployed, it’s Zero’s style to have a single queen piece.
In essence, this climax was in my opinion the equivalent to the Onogoro battle in SEED, the shit hit the fan hard and fast and it just won’t stop.
I can see Nunnaly getting Geass from V.V, it HAS to happen, the psycobitch Nunnaly from the manga is comming and it is going to be intereting what they do in season 2…..
