the union spiral tsundere loli flag, final

After the votes were win, the flag of manly man won: “It represents shouting ‘UNION!’ and joining together; kicking reason to the curb and doing the impossible; fighting the power, and piercing the heavens.” I’m also delighted that Louise came in second, and that the Telegraph still mislabels her as a manga character. “But the internet has spoken… (the winning design came from the back of the field with a surge of votes in the last few days).” It’s a small victory for anime fandom, but a victory nonetheless.

  1. After the votes were win…

    Intentional typo?

    Wow, deep…

  2. BWAHAHAHAHAHA

  3. I love the internet.

  4. As a proud Brit, i would gladly take TTGL Union Flag to the one we actually have…

The article said a dragon though… just what the hell!?… where did any research go?

  5. This is the Telegraph, remember. ‘[M]ost Telegraph readers who left comments were hostile to any suggestion of change’.

I fear research may be tainted with the winds of change.

Still, I love the comments section of that article. A bizarre culture clash between anime fans (‘UNION JACK SPIN ON’) and crabby Torygraph clientele.

  6. Actually, if this design is rejected as a common flag perhaps the Crown might file it for future use as a privateer ensign on the high seas or in outer space.

    WIN!

  7. The comments were indeed excellent, although it was funny when some unioners were like “Thats kinda cool”. I loled. Cartoon dragon. Surge of votes from anarchist communities. Manga character. 4chan. A symbol of satan. My brain just about imploded from the lack of spiral energy in that teligraph thing.

  8. Did I say lack? My bad. I meant massive amount, and they didn’t even realize it hahaha… UNION JACK SPIN ON! Who the hell do you think I am?

  9. “The sunglasses dragon”. Wow. I lol’ed for a good two minutes at that. These writers need to do their research.

  10. Union Flagann FTW! Proof positive that when your drill is the drill that pierces the heavens, nothing is impossible. Verily, Kamina would indeed be proud.

  11. Proof that hot blood and courage always win.

  12. That was ridiculously awesome. Reading the comments as well also added to the sheer amount of win that particular article had. Sometimes, just sometimes, the internet can be made of win.

  13. I don’t know if I should be crying tears of shame or pride.

Ah screw it. Kick reason to the curb!

  14. Well, when you think about it, Brits did fight the power. In the battle of England and the battle of Atlantic, against the Nazi Germany that were thought to be undefeatable.

  15. Churchill as Kamina?

  16. This whole thing is just proof that open Internet voting of this sort will rarely work: there are enough people who will take part for vastly different reasons than originally intended.

That said, it’s wicked awesome how that flag won. I still think Louise’s should have won, though. XD

  17. I’d be more than pleased to see that hanging from government buildings up and down the country. Maybe the RAF will have it at least, they do most of the heaven-piercing around here.

  18. Oh dear Kami-Sama… THEY THOUGHT THE TTGL FLAG WAS A FUCKING DRAGON ?!?!?! Hilarious. Second and third place go to Louise riding a Welsh dragon and the Loitma Leek flag…i cant stop laughing
