“S” Tier
Maria is the Head Meido of the Sanzenin Mansion, and while she is the most knowledgeable one in the household, she is also absolutely powerless to control the chaos that swirls around her, hence the development of her o_o;; face. Besides how awesome her trademarked o_o;; face is, she gets points for her epic “Score all the heroines” line as well as fascination with trap Hayate.
Beautiful and fair like other meido in this pantheon, Maria is modest. It generally takes a great deus ex machina for her to reveal skin, but let’s not hold that against her. She is also a legendary graduate of the school that Hayate and Nagi attend. As one of the few people that Nagi trusts, the two sleep together, assuming Maria isn’t skipping out to play pool and flirt with the household butler. And let’s not forget that Maria is eternally 17 years old.
We go from one to another Rie Tanaka-voiced meido. Like Mariel, Maria is another meido in the upper S tier, and she’s there for different reasons. While she is an uber meido in terms of typical meido tasks like Mariel, Maria has a much lighter side and a legend during her ascent to being Nagi’s meido. Maria’s past is also a bit sadder as she was an unwanted orphan. *sniff*
But the Meido Pantheon definitely wants her. The Meido Pantheon welcomes Maria, VP of Common Sense o_o;;.

Maria’s occasional insecurities and jealousy towards Hayate is extremely cute in the manga.

The another Rie Tanaka-voiced meido is a bonus. Maria was on the list before she got the extra benefit of the Voice. The Voice takes her from top A-tier/lower S-tier to top S-tier…easily.
Only the moe modes and cries of Mikuru hold that much of a place around these parts for a lone miedo.
Definitely the best meido ever, there’s no way Kogarashi can out-tier Maria. Along with Siesta, Roberta and some others I can’t remember off the top of my head, I’m lead to believe that the Japanese must have a stereotype for maids that they are most likely spanish, the names are the solid evidence.
Maria is a knowledgeable, and incredibly skillful meido who also fishes, plays pool with the panache that a professional would envy, and dresses up Hayate in girl’s clothing with Nagi. And she’s voiced by Tanaka Rie, like the previous Meido Mariel (anyone see a theme here?) is.
Oh, and she’s absolutely smashing when she’s in Meganekko Schoolgirl Mode. Or in a kimono.

They need to animate that…or at least make it animation quality cell of it.
I only wish that in the anime’s 2nd season there will be a Maria path.
Finally Maria made it to the Meido Pantheon.
Her work in Hayate no Gotoku hasn’t competition; maybe Mariel as you already pointed out here. The real question here is, why did she choose to be Nagi’s personal maid (maybe her own childhood was a factor), then her as a normal girl (she’s 17 after all). I’m looking forward to Hayate no Gotoku 2nd season.
For now, I’ll have to watch some reruns.
Did you know? Maria was scheduled to be born as the second coming of Christ and bring forth the great Judgment Day, but fortunately she was “accidentally” born female and became the best meido the world has ever seen.

Maria won the Great Meido Tournament on Meido-Rando last year, against Hisui & Kohaku combined together. :)
I prefer the manga version myself.

No, although it’s not unexpected. Especially since Myssa Rei and I have been here for years, and now… ze meido. If there’d been more mention of Rei and Asuka from Datenrokou, I expect that Axel would’ve made his appearance earlier.
Speaking of which, that’s an interesting manga…
