The spiritual successor to Utawarerumono.
Not kidding. Tears to Tiara is developed by Leaf, who is also responsible for Utawarerumono and To Heart 2, and it has a lot more in common with its turn-based combat brethren than with Tamaki-nee. I really enjoyed the first episode, as it did bring back flashbacks of Shadow Warrior Chronicles.
The OP gives a little too much away. They should have waited on showing the OP until the second episode, like what Maria+Holic did to not give away the twist between the first and second episodes. Obviously, the episode is summoning the demon king, yet the demon king is sharing an apple with one of the good guys in the OP… so that takes a little bit of air out of the tires.
(Though I’m thrilled that we’re getting another bromance to counteract K-On!‘s sisterhood. Arawn and Arthur could be as epic as Hakuoro and Oboro. And if you think Key recycles heroines… Leaf recycles bromances. Is this really better?)
Riannon: dumbass. Let’s see… she kills herself, the demon king wouldn’t be summoned, and thousands of lives would be spared. But the two cute kids die. She doesn’t kill herself, the demon king gets summoned, and thousands die (and probably the little kids eventually too). So which one does she pick? Common sense is anything but common.
(Though she probably bet on Arawn being a Hakuoro-demon type that really isn’t that evil, can lead harems, and be the object of her brother’s affections. In that case, she’s a prophet.)
I like how Arthur kills everyone with one blow. He’s the Exia of Tears to Tiara. Not even Kenshin can kill like five people at one with single blows.
Only 11 episodes, but I’m looking forward to them. I think if Tears to Tiara is even 75% as good as Utawarerumono, it’s in good shape. Plus, I look forward to making countless more misspellings in the future.
(Between this and Eden of the East having 11 episodes, is the economy so bad that anime studios can no longer even afford 12 episode seasons? Gosh, I still remember when 25 episodes was considered short for a season.)
Obligatory ‘It’s a Trap!’ reaction, here.
Tell me, is it just me, or is the color filter just too darned DARK in Tears to Tiara? It contrasts wildly with the bright colors of Utawarerumono, that’s for sure.

LOL I loved that since she is a prophet.
Can’t wait for the Utawaremono type harem. Although this series didn’t strike me that there was a trap, I think I’ll be pleasantly surprised. Though you should watch Natsu no Arashi theres a Trap tag on AniDb.
>>>Tell me, is it just me, or is the color filter just too darned DARK in Tears to Tiara?
Its nothing to do with filters. The entire first episode’s events occur in the night. Things get to become darker at night. You can ask Darker than Black on that one.
Was a pretty ok first episode, its somewhat-decent fantasy. Will be watching this one.

It’s a super power.

Classic quote from adventurers:
Common sense is for commoners.
Sigh. Really belongs in the recent Clannad post, but the erupting enthusiasm is understandable.
We’re all so broken now that we only get a couple of one-liners for the tittle– I mean, title image.
It’s listed as 26 episodes on its own website, and has barely covered 30 minutes of the game in the first two episodes.
Gee. Which do I believe. The producers, or ANN?
Who is that photo of at the top?
