“Howling.”
(IZ DIS SUM TWILIGHT NEW MOON?)
The best part of this episode? The first two minutes with Chiwa Saito narrating in her Senjougahara voice. I enjoyed that. What I didn’t enjoy?
Shaft being Shaft. I knew I spoke too soon! Thanks for reusing the old Zetsubou graphics. What next? Polka dot graphics? Gravure models being stapled? Chalkboard scripples? Ichigo Feast?
(I tried blogging shows this season. I honestly tried. None are sticking. What a wondrously horrible season for blogging. If a show about Potemayos is the easiest and most fun to write about, something is really horribly wrong with this season. I just hope Vampire Bund goes into full train wreck mode sooner than later. Gimme something– anything– to write about. Okay, end rant.)
I don’t know where they’re going, and I don’t care anymore. I’m just going to strap myself in and enjoy the creepy underage vampire-fueled ride. Obviously, Dance in the Vampire Bund is “based” on the manga as much so as Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 is a “realistic” depiction of an earthquake.
(I feel like I’m watching Dance in the Vampire Bund stew. They’re just mixing aspects of the manga like a big stew.)
The whole gel rubbing thing… was it really necessary? Akira has the same look any lucky contestant on Dateline NBC To Catch a Predator has when they enter the house carrying a pack of drink coolers and a few joints.
(Maybe they’re trying to compete with Ladies vs. Butlers on the length of topless airtime. They just can’t compete with volume of topless airtime.)
When I saw Akira falling, I was thinking, “Hey, didn’t we just see poor Rio plummet in Durarara!!?” I was also counting the tropes… let’s see… amnesia? Miraculous save after plummet? Superpower shown off previous week mysteriously nullified this week? Let’s just say I am glad the Mai Hime scriptwriters are working their magic here.
Something bothers me about the character designs… they almost look like they came from some sort of 90s eroge.
(Poor Yuki. She’s going to be the Kazumi Yoshida to Mina’s Shana.)
“Stay back! It’s not a place for humans like you to go!”
Watching this show, I had to contain my laughter. It’s hard to take some of the dialogue seriously. But I think it’s a show that’s probably enjoyed marathoned rather than week to week. Just not enough happens every episode… unless you like nakkid dancing loli vampires. Then may you put the OP on repeat to your heart’s content.
I don’t get the nakkid dancing loli vampire thing. Is this standard vampire lore that I’m not familiar with? Why doesn’t Hazuki or Shinobu do this?
(Remember when I called this True Blood? Yep. Mina Tepes is the new Sookie. Only I’d much rather see Anna Paquin topless.)
(*sob* Where’s my Koyomi Vamp arc?)
(Since I have nothing else to add, I’ll leave you with this. Enjoy.)
I suspect that this is going to be only the first of many seasons with not many shows worth blogging… Have you seen what’s been announced so far for Spring?
HAHAHAHA I get it, dancing loli cause the show is called DANCE in the Vampire bund, and the main char is a loli haha.
So yeah, a werewolf and some stuff kewl ep, Baka to Test was much more entertaining, but I’m not giving up hope on this yet.
For what it is worth, for better or worse (though thus far worse, very worse), this show will not be following the manga it is based on because the Manga author basically told Shaft come up with your own script.

“For those who wonder why they decided to not follow the manga, here is the excerpt from Radio in the Vampire Bund episode 2 (21:25~):
‘by Nozomu Tamaki [the Manga author]
When they decided to make Vampire Bund into an anime; I suggested them “you don’t have to follow the manga; please do an original story” but Yoshino-san and Shinbo-san said they want to follow the manga since it’s already good. I then asked them to challenge it by doing an original script but retain the manga’s story as much as possible. I think we have done a good job to it, even me reading the script thinks it’s interesting.

Personally, I think loli-bund has been reasonably enjoyable so far. But I haven’t read the manga, and don’t have any expectations about the plot. Even if it stays with the same monster of the week formula, I’ll probably keep watching. Maybe I’ve just got a thing for SHAFT shows?
Looks like the story of Roman Polanski, directed by Uwe Boll…
“I don’t get the nakkid dancing loli vampire thing. Is this standard vampire lore that I’m not familiar with? Why doesn’t Hazuki or Shinobu do this?”
All I can think of is DANCE in the Dance in the Vampire Bund is where they got their idea from. As for the nakkid part…. yeah… Shinobu’s too busy being the silent moe in the corner eating donuts :3
Other than that, I’m really disappointed so far for Dance, completely different to the manga. The other chara designs are so UGLY, i mean look at those police assassins. Replaced the meido and butler. YOU DO NOT REPLACE THE MEIDO.
Btw, the Danjo vid, I’ve seen better XD;; and she dances so slowly I kinda turned it off after a while…
Dw, hopefully we’ll get adult Mina topless.
I would think that this would be more appropriate regarding the subject matter?

Hidamari Sketch looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong faces.
^______________________________________________^
(They both even have nekkid DFC scenes already. Though I think the new Hidamari Sketch season had the bigger budget.)
And this is bad how?
Though I’d rather have a second season of the real thing, Gainax is ramping up the bar. I approve.
Funny that, considering that the manga is pretty much softcore porn.
SOB
I watched the OP, just cause you mentioned it. Needs backup dancers. Or Mio, Mio makes everything better.
not sure why I enjoyed that Utoob video so much. I also find those dancing neodroid videos entertaining for the same reasons probably. Oh well best to drive off these thoughts with mind numbing fps violence.
You should give up some of these trainwrecks and watch some of the good OVAs recently, ala Denpa Teki na Kanojo. Has everything you like. Killer lolis, fanservice, good animation, decent scripting, actual art direction, and strong performances by the seiyuu. Oh and maid outfits.
I’ll keep you informed of any Nekomimi showing up.
About the True Blood reference…
The Sookie Stackhouse book series does have a vampire queen that is almost loli (like mid-teen).
Jason’s youtube linked video was cute.
Ehji’s were hilarious.
I will not make any inappropriate comments. I will not.
Hmmmmm, I could swear Hazuki danced ballet. Or at the very least she had those weird shoes ballerinas use.
