Thanks to our good friends at Ocha for pointing this out one.
Back when I first remarked on this episode, I haven’t stumbled across the awesomeness that was Mirai Nikki (or Ga-Rei) so I had no clue what Kagami was reading. Now? I’m filled with hope that Kyoto will work on Mirai Nikki as their next project, even if it means pushing out Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya (which, lately, has turned into a real disappearance).
(I even had a screenshot of one of the Mirai Nikki covers but I spent most of the post oogling Haruhi’s melonpan instead. The lesson, as always, melonpan 4tw!)

You should teach a class on melonpan admiration. It be better than trying to teach kids grammar, because thanks to the internet, we can see how well than went.
I don’t know… it’s probably the reason why I suddenly noticed Mirai Nikki threads from this episode.

Sadly, judging by Ocha’s link and the huge amount of other light novels etc. there, Mirai Nikki’s odds are statistically pretty low.

well I thought that enveryone (and especialy you) had noticed about Mirai Nikki and Ga-Rei in Lucky Star….. (so you were 8.5/10 on my otaku’s awesomeness meter… but I guess you’re only 7.5/10 now… try better ^^ )…
But I think that I’m rather more waiting for the Ga-Rei anime than Mirai Nikki one.
i wish kyoani would pick up mirai nikki… hell, i just wish any (well, not any) studio would. Besides, remember how nuts people went when there was a quick clip of L from death note in the second raid? everyone was screaming about how kyoani would be doing death note, but i think they just like to torture us.
If KyoAni did Mirai Nikki, I would die from…something good.

Chances are pretty good. A lot of those other series have either been animated or are in production. I think Ga-Rei, Starting Bell, and Mirai Nikki are the only ones there without anime forms.
BTW, I saw this post come up on /a/ and got quickly derailed into a “show us your tits” thread because some people suggested that hawt girls do not read manga. There has to be a word that describes shame and proud and facepalm at the same time, right? If not, we need to invent it.

And yes, most of those novels have been animated though most light-novel based Anime (Spice & Wolf, Kino’s Journey, Rental Magica, Kurenai to name a few) Only just barely scrape the surface of available material. The Kino’s anime only covered a few select stories spanning the first 3 volumes, and it currently has 11 volumes published. Rental Magica and Spice and Wolf are very much the same. Even Kurenai they barely started. Though to be fair, I think they’re running out of manga to animate lately, since we’ve had more light novel adaptations in the last few seasons than before. This of course makes sense since anime adaptations of manga tend to only span 13-26 episodes, when the manga continues for a very long time. Like Full Metal Alchemist–totally needs to be re-animated to follow the manga this time around. The second half became an entirely seperate story =/
