four years of anime blogging

While I don’t brag about things like how many hits or visitors I get, I do like to brag about something that is fairly unique to AoMM… it’s been four years since I’ve been anime blogging. Even though I had very few visitors in the early years, I kept blogging because it was fun. I believe strongly that “if it’s fun to write, it’ll be fun to read as well.” As long as it remains fun, I’ll still do it.
I think it’s appropriate to list the five anime series that most influenced my blogging…
5. Escaflowne… one of my personal favorite posts, narrowly edging out that Ikkitousen doozy. What was I thinking/smoking/on…
4. La Verite… meido meido meido meido meido.
3. Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya… had a lot of fun. Great series. Great readers. What more could I ask for? (Besides more Mikuru Moe Modes.)
2. Elfen Lied… the series that got AoMM (or Toybox at that time) on the map.
1. Love Hina… completely unexpected, right? Not in my archives… I actually started blogging five years ago, back in 2001, with Love Hina, using that accursed software, Movable Type. It was the first harem anime I have ever watched, and I felt strongly about it enough to want to talk about it on the Internet with random people. I think only Xerlic is left from those days.
Good times huh? Yeah Love Hina was also the first Harem anime I’ve watched that got me hooked from there end on. As for Haruhi that is what is keeping me from losing the feel of watching anime now a days. Cheers!

Does Mr. T have to choke a bitch!
i have yet to start watching Haruhi i been so down with anime sucking so badly latly i dont wanna watch it casue if i see one more shit anime ep of something i might die inside more then what a good anime show could pull me out of
congrats on the 4 year mark
Love Hina FTW !!! ;)
Arrggh! I remeber that it was Love Hina that got me addicted to the wonderful drug called fansub.
Haruhi-sama inducte me into the level of fanboy in training never before have I simply fallen in love with a series to this degree. Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu and the opening of that billet seemed like a gift from Haruhi-sama, but alas stupid politicians stole it. A few years in Tokyo with free lodging, internet, pay checks, and 3 meals a day it would have been my own station vacation. But lo’ the daemon of Kanon fandom (LDP) shot it right out from under my ass. If it degrades to a siege I will launch the rotting corpses of the LDP into KyoAni to express my rage a billet stolen and a second season destroyed.
Happy 4th birthday AOMM!
What the hell is this? Love Hina fan-boys anonymous?
If so, please, uh, sign me up. It took me much time to get over the evil that is Love HIna. I think it was the second anime I’d ever watched, so I was just distracted by all the pretty colors and the strangeness of watching something subbed. That’s all. Nothing else. Nothing.
I wonder how many people had Love Hina as their gateway drug.
Your my favorite site on anime- congrats on 4 years!
Love Hina wasn’t my gateway drug, but it certainly was one of the first. ‘Grats!
miao.us – Entertaining me since 3 years ago. And hopefully many more years to come! =)
Omedetou!
Let there be more anime meido, so we can keep on reading AoMM!
Ganbare!
Wow four years? Congratulations on your great achievement! Although I didn’t discover your blog until 2 years ago, it’s been one of my favorites for sure.
Interesting list of top anime ever, because you managed to list two of my all time favorites (Love Hina and Escaflowne) which seem to get a lot of hate from the blogging world for some reason…
Congrats! Four years is a long time for anything, marriage included LOL. Hats off to you for my daily fix for the past year. BTW, Love Hina wasn’t the first harem anime that got me hooked…Dual! Parallel World Adventure did.
While Love Hina wasn’t my first series, its scanslations were the first scanslation that started me off in reading other scanslations and subsequently, watching anime.
Four years!! O_o
That’s far beyond anything I’ve ever done. Sure, I’ve had a site since 2002 and all, but it went up and down as my whims desired. But the thing you accomplished is a feat that deserves praise.
You were the primary reason why I even bothered making an online site or using WordPress when it came out. I figured if you could do it, so could I… weird really, but true. Of course, what we focused on was totally different, but there was that “anime” thing that served as a common interest. How time flies and things change. I envy how your HTML skills have really grown. Here I am still mucking around with WYSIWYG.
I don’t post often on your weblog anymore, but that doesn’t mean I never visit or read your rants. Indeed, I keep tabs of your loyalty to The Revolution. We executive members must keep The Faith, no matter what happens. ^_^
Keep it up Jason, and thanks for your hard (yet fun) work!
Didn’t get into blogging business until 2005, discovered AoMM right before Haruhiism being pour all over the internet.
remind me of the Ace Combat Zero’s trailer(and the funny Nanoha video):

Him ? Yeah I know him…
It’s gonna take a while…
Happy Anniversary !
I started my animation download frenzy after FLCL, Full-Metal Alchemist, and School Rumble… ã…Ž_ã…Ž then Ghost in the Shell, Air TV, and 200gbs more of anime I can’t think off the top of my head.
Elfen Lied was the first animation I cried everytime I heard the OP…
La Verite!? Seriously? I mean… I personally thought it was too brainless. It was just maids and a lucky guy with random sexual exploitations of a few maids. I’m sorry, but I have to say despised La Verite. T_T
I liked the manga MUCH more than the animation of love hina. I hate the animation compared to the manga even. T_T
SHnY introduced a whole new type of genre… I dont even think there is a genre that can singularily define it. Bravo. Sneaker Award! It’s also the anme that introduced me to AoMM. ^^;
but whatever, your blogging pretty makes any series enjoyable.. i love all the allusions and inuendos throughout all your posts. happy birthday AoMM!
I’m also part (guilty?) of having Love Hina as my anime gateway drug. Back then I could marathon a series in 2-3 days… I’m getting old…
Congrats dude. 4 years is a long long time to be around :).
4 years, eh? That’s some craaaaaazy sh*t right there. Congrats! And I’m glad it’s still fun for ya.
Love Hina Anonymous? Count me out. =P
I didn’t know you’ve been blogging for 4 years man. I just found yah out recently, looking for some “good” pics of Haruhi, hehehehe.
However, this site quickly became my homepage and has made the time between airing of Haruhi and Higurashi more bearable. I look forward to your future bloggings.
Long live AoMM!
Thanks. I just discovered you with Haruhi, but you are already the only blog I visit with any frequency.
interesting…love hina was the first series i ever completed. anyway, i really like your blog. it just seems a lot more interesting than the other few blogs i’ve read.
Damn you, Ikkitousen is good! Now I just have to convince the world!!!!
After the first time watching Love Hina (26 episode+3 OVA marathon) I had to find the most demoralizing things because I was too damn giddy. It was that feeling you get when too many good things happen at once and you’re so happy you know you can’t go out and around in public like that.
gratz for being here that long. Been reading your blog for well over 6 months now and still counting. Keep it up. More power to AoMM. \(~_^)
Love Hina was the first manga I’ve ever read (I just couldn’t get enough after watching the all of the anime). And you just get more goodness with the manga. ;)
>> Interesting list of top anime ever, because you managed to list two of my all time favorites (Love Hina and Escaflowne) which seem to get a lot of hate from the blogging world for some reason…
Love Hina was the first anime series that had its episodes digitally fansubbed before the next one aired. Think about that. That was a _huge_ upgrade for fansubbing. Debate about the content all you want, but it’s a series that I’ve used to get a few friends into anime. That’s all I need to know. (Of course, they bug me for Bleach episodes now…)
As for Escaflowne, I’ll defend it to my last typed word. Great series.
>> BTW, Love Hina wasn’t the first harem anime that got me hooked…Dual! Parallel World Adventure did.
Dual is another great series. If I blogged about it, I’d probably call it a Tenchi meets Evangelion spawn… Tengelion! Just like how Zero no Tsukaima is like some weird F/SN meets Shana spawn…
>> I just found yah out recently, looking for some “good†pics of Haruhi, hehehehe.
Note to self: post more fanservice, fanservice, fanservice.
>> La Verite!? Seriously? I mean… I personally thought it was too brainless.
It is brainless, but it has meido. And triplets. The manga is a lot more interesting plotwise, but with Iron Cat out of business, the license is in limbo.
>> Indeed, I keep tabs of your loyalty to The Revolution. We executive members must keep The Faith, no matter what happens. ^_^
Ladies and gentlemen, my mentor in all things meido.
Wow, has it really been that long? Wow, where has the time gone. Grats on the 4 years, Jason.
In another 4 years, I still hope to be trolling the forums and lurking on your anime blog still.
