no cost if lvl 1 shion is on field

There’s nothing really special or interesting about the characters from Xenosaga— I kept having this nagging feeling that I’ve seen them before. Shion is just Virginia from Wild Arms 3 with a bigger gun; MOMO is Sailor Moon in biohumaniod form; you can probably find chaos in any yaoi doujinshi. And single-winged lunatic villians that enjoy killing sw33t little girls? Yeah… seen that before too.

My favorite? Well, that’s easy… here’s a chart for the uninitiated:

– Female android
– Built to combat invincible alien horde
– Only one in existance
– Has “black box” technology no one knows how to fix
– Owned by organization with name starting with “V”
– Follows orders of a geek in glasses
– Cute cat for support mecha
– Flies with attachment
– Carries a pistol
– Part of sci-fi story set in space
– Catch phrase….. “I think ecchi is wrong!”
– Arm can turn into beam sword
– Breast missiles!
– Lotsa fanservice!

– Catch phrase… “External appearance down 5%.”

– Stomach homing lasers!
– Damn!

Yet… the story works. It’s more of the same, but it’s more of the same of what I like. Though, to be fair, it’s not as bad as the stereotypes found in Suikoden III.

Man, and I thought Belldandy with a Gun was blatant…
