useful software (at least to me)

I felt a need to balance out blatant posting of fanservice with something more meaningful…

One of the best friends any webdesigner can have is mySQL Front, which is basically a way of connecting to, manipulating, and most importantly, backing up mySQL databases from any server onto any client machine or even between servers. Ever since I discovered it, mySQL Front has made my life a lot easier. Unfortunately, the project was discontinued so this is the last stable release of it until the new team gets its act together.

I used to use Outlook for my e-mail, then I stopped, oh, 7 years ago because it pretty much stinks for e-mail. Too much bloat, too little user friendliness. Most of the time, I use Pine, which is fast, easy, secure, and virus/trojan-free. One downside of Pine is that it is a hassle to view any attachments so recently I began using The Bat!. The Bat! is a nice GUI e-mail reader that is fast, secure, and features options that I want including intelligent mail sorting, autocomplete, and in-line attachment view. The Bat! also uses its own image and html engine thus making it immune to all the standard Word/Outlook macro viruses and worms. One downside is that the GUI isn’t very sexy.

Lastly, there’s Alcohol 120%. It’s a great little program for burning ISOs, defeating copy protection, and copying CDs. Then again, why would anyone in this world want to copy a CD? ;)
