damn you korea!

It’s bad enough that I’m getting fat eating at all those Korean BBQ houses. It’s even worse occurance when I’m playing some Korean online multiplayer game. They’re just good at producing this sort of crack/cocaine. First, it was Ragnarok Online with its cute cartoonly exterior but incredibly addictive (yet pointless) Diablo interior. Now it’s GunBound which is best described as a similar exterior as iRO but a mindless Worms or Scorched Earth interior. You basically create an avatar and go around planning power/angles/weapons to blast your opponent. By killing and winning, you get experience points which entitle you to further services, like being able to join/start a guild or to buy higher quality armor. Part of the fun of the game is that it’s simple yet complex. The other part is smack talking since the game provides ample oppurtunity to do this.
The similarities with iRO are staggering. The homepage is almost a complete ripoff of Gravity’s homepage, and the UI feels just like iRO down to the ridiculous Engrish. The login servers even mysteriously go offline once in a while just like iRO (like, well, now, or else I’d be pwning someone with my tank). Fortunately, there aren’t any bot aimers… yet.
Did some say “Scorched Earth?!” I love that game! We have an original copy written in 1990 or 1992 back home. Believe it or not it was new when we got it and my brother and I still love to play it. It’s the coolest thing since beef-cutlets. I love what the tanks say when they explode. If Gunbound is anything like Scorched Earth, I’m down.
