I’m running a fever right now. I can’t focus enough to watch TV… can’t coordinate enough to drive or operate the X-Box controller… and dare I say it, can’t sleep because I’ve been sleeping the whole day already. I’m also hopped up on over-the-counter drugs. So what to do? Rant!
Thanks to X for pointing out a trailer for Geisha. As for Chinese girls playing a Japanese ones, well, you should know this blog’s stance on anything Zhang Ziyi and Michelle Yeoh. Of course, I’m just glad they didn’t go the Space Above and Beyond route and cast someone like J. Lo.
Maybe it’s just kharmadic playback for Takeshi Kaneshiro in House of Flying Daggers. Or the horrible, horrible casting of Kyousoke in the Initial D movie.
I’m against prostitution and this particular book celebrated it.
Good job Arther Golden, you tried to give people some insight on Japanese culture but achieved the opposite IMO.
I didn’t find the book to really be *that* sensual but I know that movie sure looks it.
I’m so proud of Ziyi. I remember the days she couldn’t even speak English, I’m glad she’s broadening her career.
