Yoshida and Shana finally collide, and while no chairs were tossed or 300 pounds aunts were screaming at each other, it was still entertaining nonetheless. (Yes, I’m fully aware that I should be packing, but… damn… it’s Shana!) Shana and Yuji still can’t admit their feelings towards each other, even when Shana takes Yuji to a most romantic spot, and Yoshida catches them there. The next day, Ike forces the issue, which Yuji somehow decompresses into that Ike likes Yoshida. Unfortunately, Yuji isn’t more insightful for himself. Yoshida confronts Shana, and Yoshida bluntly issues her declaration of war towards Shana, who is still confused with her feelings. When Shana finally seems to be resolute, the blonde twincest pair enter the picture. The episode concludes on a cliffhanger, as Shana falls for the blonde pair’s trap. What’s going to happen to Shana? Who grabbed Yuji? What has Shikijo-sensei planned for her counterattack? We’ll know… 1/4/2006 as that seems to be the next air date. I guess I won’t be missing any Shana while away.
Somehow, I’m much more interested in the soap opera between Yuji, Ike, Shana, and Yoshida than I was with Shana fighting Suiseiseki and Souseiseki Aizenji and Aizenta. Then again, it’s like Full Metal Panic, where I always seemed to enjoy the Chidori and Sagara slapstick more than the mecha combat. Episode 12 advances both sides of the story as Shana and Yuji are now forced to confront their feelings for each other, and Yuji is daring enough to ask for a “bonus”. Then Suiseiseki and Souseiseki show up and toss Shana into yet another battle. While the pair has been introduced before, it still feels kinda sudden… and it definitely left “The Battle for Yuji” in a standstill.
The art and composition for the fights scenes have improved. I also liked the composition of the scene when Yoshida confronts Shana. Shana starts off high and might standing in the sun with Yoshida in tears and in the shadow. As Yoshida becomes more resolute, she walks into the light, and as Shana grapples with her feelings, she falls into the shadows. Maybe I’m reading too much into this.

O__O ah conflict!!
Yoshida Kazumi! I LOVE HER! Shana is ok, but she annoys me a lot of times. YoshidaxYuuji! o^^o Shakugan no Shana is a nice anime!
-Kristine X3-
SHANA SUCKS! GO TO HELL BITCH! I FUCKING HATE YOU! DIE AND LEAVE YOSHIDA AND YUUJI TO BE TOGETHER. ANNOYING GIRL WHO DOESN’T KNOW WHAT SHE WANTS! DIE!
~Shana sucks, Kazumi rules~
WHAT THE [insert expletive of choice].
Such unabashed displays of fanboyism.
And they don’t notice the twincest.
Also, we all know Yoshida is a creepy stalker.
… ya know, I really think they might not have censors in Japan. ^^
( and if they do, and they leave that stuff in, then what are we missing?! )
Shana is awsome. ( end of story)
ok i hate Yoshida because she thinks she loves Yuji ( don’t argue with this ive seen every epsiode) i have to agree with Sheryl when she says that Yoshida is a
stalker. Now ppl if Shana didn’t love Yuji why would she keep saving him. ( for those of you confused by Shana’s behavior towards Yuji it will all be explained in good time Epsidoes 15-18) (if you can’t wait ill just say its based on how she was raised)
Ok…lets face facts…yoshida is one of the most hated characters on the show (i saw on this poll once)…she is oblivious to half of the things that happen…and yet she thinks she is perfect for yuji!!! Behind that sweet girl fascade…she is a conniving bitch who is selfish…and omg! Such a stalker =_= Go shana-chan! The hero should end up with the heroine…not the obsessive fangirl who’s convinced she’s really in love with Yuji -_-‘
I swear to god…i hate every moment that Yoshida is on screen…
I have always been interested in this discussion. I am so glad i found you, because you have shed quite a bit of light on the subject. Appreciate the info.
