the killer lolis get more episodes

ANS reports that an “unspecified magazine” has an article about Higurashi no Naku Koro ni is getting… a… sequel… gomen nasai… gomen nasai… gomen nasai… (I hope it’s not a sequel but rather a remake by JC Staff… they can even turn Rena into a flat-chested tsundere…)

  1. It should be a remake since there’s not enough material for a second season, unless the producers decide to come up with their own stories which will probably ruin it.

  2. A Higurashi sequel?!

If they animate the Minagoroshi and Matsuribayashi arcs, I will be greatly pleased.

  3. I am guessing is going to be the last two arcs (13 episodes) too; at least we’ll know the whole story now.

  4. And here’s the official web announcement!

  5. i hope they keep the genre of it

    a tsundere remake would suck

  6. I was under the impression that it was a remake.

    Cheers.

  7. USO DA!

Sorry, it had to be said

  8. Wait wait wait. Did you just hope for a remake of a show by a studio that wasn’t Kyoto Animation? Isn’t that against the rules around here?

    Also…
    > It should be a remake since there’s not enough material for a second season, unless the producers decide to come up with their own stories which will probably ruin it.

I’m pretty sure they’ve already ruined it plenty, what with the incoherent story telling, the 5 billion major production errors, the astounding drop in art quality, etc. Really, there’s nowhere to go but up, unless of course they went and changed the op.

  9. OMG, finally some screentime for Oyashiro-sama and the Karate Fist of Doom? I hope it covers Minagoroshi and Matsuribayashi. :/

  10. I would rather get the last 2 arcs animated just so we know what really happens. I would rather not have a remake… not too fond of them.

  11. Auauau!

  12. I hope big-titted horned miko ghosts that have “auauau” as catchphrase is your kind of moe.

That is, if they gonna animate the two last answer arcs.

  13. The web page basically says Higurashi no Naku Koro ni 2 in 2007, so the chances of being a remake is small:

But I’m more interested in this Sonozaki Collection that they are advertising…

  14. Man the animation quality is what helped make the series so good. I don’t want kyoto god animation for this series I like the B-horror wannabe setup

  15. >> I hope it’s not a sequel but rather a remake by JC Staff… they can even turn Rena into a flat-chested tsundere…

DFC? On my Rena? NO WAY!
There is enough DFC on Rika and Satoko for me to reject Rena’s decently-sized chest (not that I wouldn’t take DFC Rena home, of course…)

    >> Really, there’s nowhere to go but up, unless of course they went and changed the op.

I demand the same OP song, even if it’s with a different opening video.

    >> It should be a remake since there’s not enough material for a second season, unless the producers decide to come up with their own stories which will probably ruin it.

Lurk more. There’s 2 more visual novel arcs, 3 additional ones for the PS2 game (including a supposed “true end”), and some more in the form of manga. There is more than enough material.

(Heh, Ryukishi07 and Sunrise are the only people I know able to get away with rehashing characters and plot. Not that I’m complaining, of course)

    >> I hope big-titted horned miko ghosts that have “auauau” as catchphrase is your kind of moe.

Yo Jason, pay attention to this. Hanyuu is kinda Mikuru on moe-steroids.

    >> I would rather get the last 2 arcs animated just so we know what really happens. I would rather not have a remake… not too fond of them.

I’m also rooting for the remaining arcs, but KyoAni’s remake is all we have been wishing for (in my case, only if Tomokazu Seki is playing Keiichi. Sugita can take a break, he kinda deserves one).

  16. I just hope the animation doesn’t look like SHI- this time around….is the same studio working on the next series, or has the torch been passed on?

  17. I’m not sure what the distinction is supposed to be between a “remake” and a “sequel” here. The show reboots every three-to-six episodes as it is; a “remake” would just be a reboot which is slightly more consistent than the others.

  18. SHI- I was hoping for studios like Toei to make a gekiba version of Minagoroshi or something like that.
Instead of calling it a sequel, let`s call it an expansion pack since it`s going to contain more reboots.

  19. >(I hope it’s not a sequel but rather a remake by JC Staff…
    >they can even turn Rena into a flat-chested tsundere…)

    *goes L5*
if they do that… they… will… DIE!!! *laughs manically*

Erm, anyway, here’s another “hope its the last 2 arcs”… and with the same op (unlikely, but who knows).
Either that, or a remake including those two arcs, as long as they stay faithful to the original (maybe include the poems? ;-))

As for tsundere… doesn’t Mion kinda qualify? Sure, she isn’t the stereotypical tsundere, but those are getting old anyway…

  20. >>Hanyuu is kinda Mikuru on moe-steroids.

I’m not sure it’s possible for Mikuru to be fed moe-steroids. That would break the moe-threshold and lead to moe-tational collapse, and anything within the moe radius will be drawn to this infinitely moe point (a moe singularity). There is no escaping the pull of infinite moe.

Most horrifying of all: the cosmic censorship hypothesis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C.....hypothesis) suggests that no moe singularity is naked. That means we’ll never be able to really see these points of infinite moe. They’re all hidden within the moe event horizon, which we of course cannot cross on pain of being crushed to death by the pure moe force.

Needless to say, Yuki probably sent all moe-steroids universes without Mikuru (or Canada) to prevent Mikuru from accidentally consuming the steroids and creating a moe singularity. The Muteki Kanban universe was one probable destination of the moe-steroids: Kayahara-sensei’s ramen was clearly spiked with them.

In conclusion: don’t feed moe-steroids to people who are already extremely moe, or you’ll never see them naked.

  21. Ahem. I meant to say: “sent all moe-steroids TO universes without Mikuru”.

The urgent necessity of informing people of the danger of moe-steroids clearly destroyed my writing ability. Either that, or the “to” was sucked into a miniature moe singularity.

  22. hope to see more nakkid rika and satoko

  23. @GDP:

Such moe singularity could only happen if the subject has infinite density and and zero volume… which is obviously referring to a flat-chested airhead, no doubt about it. Such airheads are quite rare, actually, and most of them are not even able to catch enough moe-steroids to trigger an actual moe singularity. And isn’t “moe airhead” an oxymoron anyways?

Now, call me crazy, but I think feeding a decent ammount of moe-steroids to Mikuru (but not enough to actually cause a moe-singularity) would cause her very physical manifestation to actually transcend the physical realm (because this realm wouldn’t even be able to withstand enough moe), turning her into something close to a ghost and/or giving her god-like powers, which kinda is what Hanyuu is.

  24. @ GDP & sagematt:

    Awesome, I love Anime Physics.

The concepts of “moe-tational collapse” an a “moe singularity” implies that Moe is self attracting with a greater force than that of gravity. This leads to an even more frightening possibility. This Moe Singularity would attract Moe with greater force than normal matter. The Moe-Event Horizon would be much greater that the event horizon for normal matter. Therefore a Moe Singularity would be able to drain the Moe from it’s surroundings while otherwise keeping them intact. This runaway Moe-attraction could drain all the Moe from the world and possibly even the entire universe.

Imagine the horror, a world without Moe.

This important discovery in the field of Anime Physics will have repercussions for decades if not centuries to come. I hear by call upon the nations of the would to enact strict anti moe-steroid legislation. We must all be diligent to keep moe-steroids out of the hands of Evil Dictators and Main Villains so that the world will never see an anti-Moe super weapon that would force humanity to live a bleak existence without even the slightest hint of Moe.

  25. So, wait….

It’s Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni…Ni?

  26. >> (I hope it’s not a sequel but rather a remake by JC Staff… they can even turn Rena into a flat-chested tsundere…)

And then she can just kill Keiichi and all the girls can just have one huge orgy. Or it can all go to hell and Rena will start whipping Keiichi into submission while he gets seduced by a meido Mion. Wait… MEIDO MION… … … !!!

Anywho, I just want to know how it ends. I saw the MADs (Higurashi Motion Graphic) and I was like LOL SPOILERS? New characters!? GASP!

  27. You all CLEARLY have the wrong priorities, look at the news bulletin three below that one:

12-6-06 (3:47PM EST)—- Haruhi Suzumiya Surprise Announcement Brewing

News out of the Japanese Language SOS email magazine indicates an unspecified announcement regarding the franchise will be made at year’s end.

  28. the news bulletin directly below the Higurashi 2 post suggests that Jason and ANS had some sort of mutual advertisment agreement. HMMMMMMMMMMMM…

12-6-06 (4:37PM EST)—- “Unpackaged Media” Unencoded

The English blog Anime On My Mind delivers a brilliant analysis on the subject

  29. >> the news bulletin directly below the Higurashi 2 post suggests that Jason and ANS had some sort of mutual advertisment agreement.

LOL. Epic coincidence. I’ve linked to ANS plenty in the past– they’re one of my favorite sources of anime news. I honestly didn’t notice.

    >> You all CLEARLY have the wrong priorities

This I did notice. I don’t write about things that sound like Brett Farve press conferences… today Brett holds a press conference to announce that he’s going to have a press conference about whether or not he’ll retire or not. This seriously happened.

  30. the sequel is supposedly awesome

you’ll get to see schmion kill and spit on lots of people

    wheee

  31. From what I read on animesuki, they are likely going to make an ending that is different from the original games, like the PS2 version did.

  32. @Kendra Kirai: “Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni Ni” is an awesome multi-layered pun of a title. Whenever I hear Satoko say “nii nii” I will think of this.

@sagematt: Singularities warp space-time, and so does Hanyuu…ah-ha! A connection! Maybe at an earlier time she achieved such a high level of moe that it caused a moe-tational collapse. The interaction of her nigh-infinite moe and the singularity threw her across universes and granted her control over space-time! But it seems her powers have diminished…. If Jason’s theory that multiple sources of moe create a stabilizing effect (mentioned in a later blog post), then maybe Rika, Rena and the crew undermine Hanyuu’s moe-powered control of space-time.

@Maverick Ronin: If opposed types of moe prevent a singularity from forming, then we might be safe so long as we keep moe thriving and well. But there are other reasons to worry…. Will moe-steroids leave heavy users infertile? We can’t let Mikuru take them! She’ll be ruined for marriage!

  33. >>I don’t write about things that sound like Brett Farve press conferences…

Granted, there’s vapornews just like there’s vaporware, but some big rumors on important topics are worth invesstigating. Internet rumors can net big gains, like the Wii in the midst of the mindless holiday consumer frenzy.

Speaking of which, I think those who line up for the really rare items should be subject to ridiculous reality TV-style “games”. If only to amplify the hilarity. Cruelly and unusually.

  34. @GDP: I want to refer to the root of the comment that triggered this. I said Hanyuu was Mikuru on moe-steroids. Mikuru is a time-traveler… what would happen if she were fed moe-steroids? Could purple-hair, horns, even superior time-bending abilities, and rapid-fire “auuu~” be a consequence to all of this? I think we might be onto something here!!!

  35. Here’s the best idea ever, oy.

    GRAND THEFT AUTO: Hinamizawa

Let your imagination do the rest, oy.

  36. Well, I’ve been looking around and it is 3 arks (One is an anime specific ark (Re-cap arc?)) And it is a differant opening theme mad by the same person that did th first, It’s called Naraku No Hana (Flowers of Hell) I don’t know about all of you, but I am looking forward to it.
