I’m gone on vacation… and so are the Raki Suta girls. Fitting!
(I’ve probably been attacked by a wild animal also. Fitting!)
This episode was actually kinda interesting as there was a coherent back story with the girls going on a class trip. I generally prefer this type of episode more than the more Seinfeld-ish ones and definitely more than the Haruhi infomercials. In fact, I think Kyoto should start a counter: “12 minutes and zero Haruhi references!” much like how a construction site would have something like “12 days and no accidents!”
Shooting Stars
I think most kids know their computers better than their parents, so it’ll be hard to completely spy on them. They could always break into a neighbor’s wifi and do nefarious deeds that way. I would probably setup a proxy server that the kids would have to go through, and then surround the house with tin foil wallpaper. This is also good for keeping the space aliens away.
(The “neeee~~~” from Tsukasa was too cute.)
(Konata’s dad’s D:\ drive is the Akiko jam-mu of Lucky Star. We can only guess what’s there, but I’d lay down odds in this order: pr0n, pr0n, pr0n, pr0n, tax returns, pr0n, pr0n, Sex and the City seasons 3 through 4, pr0n, mp3s of Taniguchi singing, pictures of Konata’s long lost twin sister Chiyo-chan.)
Unquestionably for me, the highlight of this episode was Tsukasa being overwhelmed at every single turn. I’m not sure what moe mode that is exactly, but Tsukasa overwhelmed is only a tier lower than Mikuru cowering and thirty seven tiers higher than Nagi trying to impress Hayate.
Enjoyed this scene if only because there’s a solid 5% chance I’ve been eaten by a bear like Grizzly Man.
(For anyone who has watched Grizzly Man, shouldn’t they advertise that the movie won a Darwin Award? I mean, that’s worth mentioning right? “Hey, look at these cool bears! AWWWWWWW!”)
Hilarious on many levels. I asked a question on IRC if people have already started putting up fan art variations of this scene, and, let me say this, there’s a lot of sick pe- potential readers out there. In either case, even if she’s ruined for marriage, I’m sure Konata will still take her.
Yes, I chuckled during this scene. An actual joke that works in Lucky Star… oh my stars and garters, what have we wrought!?
Also enjoyed how the Indian tourists overwhelmed Tsukasa. Mmmm… they are using a disposable camera… don’t see a lot of those (or even 35mm) cameras around anymore. They’re the horse-drawn buggies of the 21st century. In an unrelated story, I learned Indian from spending a lot of time with tech support from Dell.
Tsukasa being overwhelmed by sleepiness was enjoyable as well. I used to be able to stay up all night and study, with my personal best 72 hours without sleeping and then scoring an “A” on the final at the end of the streak (I passed out in the courtyard afterwards). Nowadays, I can’t even get the episode of Gurren Lagann right for a 15 word post if I stay up even 15 minutes past my bedtime. I need help, but you know this already.
(Andohbytheway, is this viewpoint from a stalker or hidden camera or something?)
Writing down something funny ASAP or else you’d forget? Wait? Something funny in my Lucky Star?!? Must be a first. I kid, I kid, but, seriously, for shows I know I will blog about, I sometimes will use a recorder and record the sarcastic comments that I make during the show. This doubles as my audition tapes for the anime version of MST3K.
(Is that a Gundam Seed poster I see?!?)
Poor LOL FANG-SENSEI. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaw. :( :( :(
(Sniffing = cute, whether after being molested by deer or after being kicked off the servers by Square-Enix.)
Who is the girl next to LOL FANG-SENSEI, and how come she isn’t more in the show?
(Taniguchi as not only the trash monitor but also the poor S.O.B. who sits in the stool int he middle of the aisle. Dude lives a cursed life.)
“An A-Boy is someone who looks like they belong in Akihibara.” Mmm… let me think about this… OTL. Remind me next time I go to Akihibara to dress up like an Eastern European tourist… you know, pulled up socks, fanny pack, scraggy wife-beater tops, the whole she-bang.
(Wonder how many angry Eastern European comments I’ll get from that. Also wonder if the Australians aren’t angry that I didn’t use them and just show up in my Crocodile Dundee outfit. That would be awesome. Dress up like Crocodile Dundee while browsing the harem manga at Animate.)
I like the way Konata thinks!
(I’m just barely over my Puzzle Quest addiction, and now I’m started on Rune Factory. Also played a little Glory Days 2, which is a dumb game but still weirdly entertaining while riding Cal Train. Got a DS Browser as well, but it’s really slow wi-fi, and trying to browse my own blog with it is painfully slow. Maybe it’s a sign I should scale back on the images I use… nah!)
(And I do wonder if Sony offered Kyoto a sack full of money, would they replace the DS with a PSP for the DVD version?)
This long pole thingie with the two oval thingies at the bottom with all the 17 is the new 14 girls touching it isn’t phallic at all. Not. Phallic. At. All.
A Tsukasa who says “Click!” while taking pictures with her cell phone is fine too.
(One of my friends got an Nokia N80… it is pretty slick with a 3mp camera, but the quality still isn’t even near the stuff of a cheap $200 point-and-shoot camera and is equivalent to the quality of a digital camera 5 years ago. I’m still hoping someone would come out with a serviceable cell phone camera that performs well in low light conditions and costs less than $300.)
Second best part of the episode. The bus must be going at least 20mph right? Taniguchi is fast! It’s kinda disarming how fast Taniguchi has fallen from the awesome one to the Gan-chan role. (People who watched Mini-Goddess know what I’m talking about…)
I think they blew it with this concept. If they wanted to tone everything down, make it serious, and make it seem like some guy would proposition Kagami, they screwed up. Having the guy come in and ask for the doll was lame. They should have a guy come up and actually propose, but Kagami starts bossing him around, and the guy goes, “Forget it.” Or better yet, have the guy show up and go, “Oops, wrong sister!” Or just have Konata show up laughing at Kagami. All of those choices are upgrades like how almost anyone is an upgrade over Rex Grossman.
Greatest. Lucky. Channel. Ever.
The less said, the better.
(But Taniguchi should have tossed out Kamina’s line, “Who the fuck do you think I am?!?” That would have been awesome and appropriate. And, yes, weird seeing Akira rattled.)
Recycling a joke from 2002:
A: What state grows potatoes?
B: Idaho.
A: And I da pimp!
(Coincidentally, I probably am in Idaho right now. If there’s any AoMM readers near Idaho Falls, let me know… and, no, I’m not vacationing in Idaho Falls, just passing through.)
This episode was just great i liked every part of it.
and yes best Lucky Channel ever because akira finally got what she deserved, I say Taniguchi went too soft on her.
I also wish that they would have expanded on the Kagami hook up scene a bit more, I agree with what you mentioned about them going out and then leaving her because of her attitude. Then to make it better, having Konata show up and start laughing at her right as they break up.
Would be Epic.

I did not think of it at all. Otoh, the Tsukasa’s comment about being wet and sticky after the deers attack….
Wow..I was actually laughing most of the time in this episode. Tsukasa is really running away with the show. In every scene shes doing something to grab your attention away from the other stars. I also have Tsukasa’s sleeping affliction, down to the not remembering people waking me up, talking with them, and then going back to sleep part. Its rather terrifying that someone could wake me up, interrogate me, and I’d never remember it.
Though, besides Lucky Channel, that little bit at the end with Lol-FANG Sensei was the best. Maybe because its happened to me..but I LOLed anyway, hard.

the word around is that’s Kamio Misuzu from Air, and LOL FANG-SENSEI was supposed to be Haruko

During this episode I got too excited about recognizing the places in Kyoto. (truth: it’s not that cool that to recognize them/most people do anyway) And the “long pole thingie with the two oval thingies at the bottom” is really heavy, but I did see this one guy sort of lift it. Seriously. I, also, enjoyed Tsukasa’s feeding moment.
Or better yet, have the guy show up and go, “Oops, wrong sister!â€
Great minds think alike. I was seriously expecting this to happen. After all, the note just read “Hiiragi”, now didn’t it?
But alas, this way it’s just wasted potential.

Better or worse than the giant man eating phallic mushrooms?

Theres to your grizzlyman reference.

That’s the iron staff in Kiyomizu-dera, supposed to be used by Musashibo Benkei, but feel free to think whatever you wish
Well, Konata ain’t always the mean one; like how she cheered Kagamin up after her night meeting.
That was quite cute, imo.
Welcome to Idaho.

Wow, I think you hit the nail right on the head there. Although the obvious answer is pretty boring, there’s lots of potential for other kinds of speculation. Every KyoAni show needs to have at least one of these unsolved mysteries.

I hear you! I remember when I could pull a double all nighter back when I was in school, whereas now I’m lucky to make it more than 24 hours at a stretch without keeling over.

OH SHI-you weren’t supposed to know about that.
I’m just barely over my Puzzle Quest addiction, and now I’m started on Rune Factory.
I’m glad you were able to escape from its clutches. I’m still trapped in the vicious cycle…trying to train up a max level character in each of the four classes.
.
How’s Rune Factory? I kind of got tired of Harvest Moon after about the fourth or fifth iteration, but I hear Rune Factory has really salvaged the franchise.

Wonder if he could outrun Konata or not…
Or better yet, have the guy show up and go, “Oops, wrong sister!â€
Oh man, I laughed my butt off at that comment. I agree; that definitely would’ve made for a much funnier conclusion. Nevertheless, I think that whole subplot was well executed, and helped show that Konata is actually pretty sensitive to those around her, as she drags Kagami to the purikura to help cheer her up. :)

Oh yeah…come to think of it…the source of the mysterious “stench” is another candidate for great unsolved anime mysteries.

This is only more evidence of Lucky Star being the japanese animu equivalent of Seinfeld, only in Jerry’s case, the problem was him not being able to read what he had written down the night before because of bad handwriting.
A really great episode. The less said, the better
But rather than Tsukasa X Deer kun I like Tsukasa X Kagami Imouto Oneesama Twincest. OH GEASS YES.
http://img.photobucket.com/alb.....enannt.jpg
I felt SO bad during that scene where Kuroi-sensei is sniffling…
The 22 was pure GOLD … this one was good.
An lol-ful Lucky Star with Tsukasa being overwhelmed by animals, Indians, and sleepiness, Konata’s DS, Hot girl next to LOL FANG SENSEI, and Taniguchi going batshit crazy. Weird how Lucky Star sometimes sneaks in some dramatic / serious scenes, like Kagami’s hope of a boy’s proposition. I loved the Valentine’s Day Kagami though. Delicious Dere Dere.

stupid thing eating my comment… u_u ()
I thought the same thing, and as if that weren’t reference enough, Sora and Potato doing the next episode preview? AWESOME.
Anyone know what happened with afk’s subs? Did they drop Lucky?
no romance for Kagami or any girl in this show.
i kept wondering why they took so much time for the extras instead of making them ALL have brown hair like normal animes. I guess thats admirable that they do, But why arent some of the girls in the extra showing up more!!??? TT__TT;; can you explain why Kona changes her face for 2mins ???
Holy moley I haven’t seen this episode yet but that HAS to be Tsukasa feeding deer at Nara park… those dear freaking BITE I am not kidding! Those cookies are like 150 yen for a pack and you end up bitten like crazy and covered in deer slobber, after frantically trying to get rid of the deer cookies ASAP. Oh well at least the big buddha is awesome.
I think that girl next to Kuroi-sensei looks a lot like Nayuki in Lucky Star mode. Sort of like how in one of the earlier episodes it looks like there’s a Mikruru look-alike in the back of the class there.
Couple possiblities.
And stuff.
Oh, and agreeing on those stupid dear. I discovered that I apparantly am allergic to their dander or something.
Spend two weeks there without so much a sniffle from the local plat life, and then a few minutes near the dear and I can barely keep from dehydrating at the rate that my nose was running, and eyes were watering.
They’re cute, but evil I say!
And more stuff.
