If there’s going to be a special screening Lucky Star and a Dealer’s Room booth at Anime Boston next year like was one for Haruhi this year… *shakes head* Looks like I have to crash them both in Clannad cosplay to promote KyoAni awareness.
This is going to be fun.
To be fair, I’m actually a bit fond of Bandai Visual. They’ve done a few bad dubs, to be sure, but their Galaxy Angel one was by far the best I’ve ever heard- I actually prefer it to the original Japanese (Ryoko Shintani made Milfie sound too old, and Yukari Tamura used a voice for Ranpha that absolutely didn’t sound 18). But translating Lucky Star is such a difficult task that I doubt they could be up to it. I wonder if they’ll do what Tokyopop did for the dot hack franchise: mistranslate the first half of the series so poorly that it makes no sense, then give up and get a bunch of (unpaid) fan consultants to make sure they don’t screw up royally for the last few eps? That sounds about right.
As a Sandy Fox aficionado, I’m really hoping they get Sandy Fox to play Akira. She’d be able to pull off both personalities perfectly…her role in Omishi Magical Theatre Risky Safety convinced me that Sandy Fox is the alpha and the omega for cute evil characters. (Yoroshiku, baby!) Jocelyne Loewen would make a good Miyuki, and Moneca Stori might do well as Tsukasa. They’d have to digitally raise the pitch for whoever plays Patty, though.
(But you know what would be awesome? If they dragged all the original seiyuu to Canada and had them record the English version. As in, they would make a Charlie Brown-style phonetic breakdown of the script, and have the Japanese voice actors read that aloud and play the English characters. It would be crazy-go-nuts.)
So, bandai will rlease Raki Suta as well. They did a descent job with Haruhi (I need DVD’s 2, 3 and 4); just don’t get a 50-yera-old lady to play as Konata please.
As I clicked on this I had the Lucky Star OST playing in the background just as it switched to Konata’s Haruhi ringtone. My mind was literally boggled. Good news though, looking forward to the DVDs.

After hearing Aya’s rendition (whether serious or not) of Monkey Magic I get the feeling this may be out of the question.
So…does this mean we’ll be hearing the dub choices for Keroro, Giroro, and Tamama in Lucky Star (ep13) before the official ADV-licensed Keroro Gunsou dubs?
Good show, ADV. Enjoy your AIDS.
I wonder if they’ll leave Taniguchi’s shenanigans as is.

The only DVD’s I’ve ever bought are the Haruhi ones, this may become the next set
Horrific Dub Cast ahoy!
Aside from Crispin Freeman as Kyon.
There is no way there is going to be a proper dubbing of this in any other language.

Tsukasa merchandise in the specials. maybe we can petition for something nice.
