kanokon, my first time?

All hail The Great Perverted King!

1. I can’t even begin to describe the sheer genius of casting Mamiko Noto as Kouta, a.k.a. Chizuru’s boy toy. Kouta’s screams as Chizuru forced herself on top of him were fantastic, as was Kouta’s final admission and acceptance of his fate. Mamiko tries to sound masculine, but fails at that but exceeds exceptionally in sounding like Hecate trying to extract power of existence from Yuji. (No, really, that’s a plot point for Shakugan no Shana and not a made up euphemism.)

2. Dripping saliva 4tw. I normally am against spineless male harem leads, but I don’t have a problem with Mamiko Noto voicing spineless male harem leads. Especially when Kouta looks and sounds like a petite girl. (No, really, no after effects from Minami-ke. You gotta believe me.)

image

3. Kouta really does look more like a girl than Haruhi Fujioka… anyway, the relationship between Kouta and Chizuru makes no sense. If the bond between the two is so strong and powerful, why does Kouta not like the ecchi action? Is he into Chizuru for her mind and intellectual thoughts on Husserl and Nietzsche? If she’s only interested in him because he smells like a farm, what exactly is the basis of their relationship? (I know, I know, it can’t be less logical than a succubus who is afraid of men or a blind guy who enjoys fondling girls with his walking stick.)

4. The fanservice is strong with this one. If you’re going to make a fanservice harem romp, do it properly. And Kanokon has!

5. Wait, plot? Who wants plot? Fanservice romp, dammit!

  1. My my…
Kanokon has some of the most shameless, blatant fan service.

    And I AM LOVING IT.

Catch up, episode 3 is out!

  2. if kouta REALLY dislikes the action he’s being forced into, i could replace him as a stunt double..

  3. Episode 1: “A fox is fine too”
    Episode 2: “Doors, Keys, Kanokon”
    Episode 3: ???
    Episode 4: PROFIT!

By episode 6, Chizuru will posess Kouta, walk him into a love hotel, and have her way with him for the rest of the episode.

  4. As far as I can tell, Kouta is probably a fan (or will become one) to judge by the way he only seems to feel fear and embarassment around the girls. Either that, or he’s really a heterosexual girl and Chihiro is too focused on other things to notice the lack.

  5. Wrong Haesslich.

    Episode 3 … episode 3 …

  6. I just watched episode 3… now I’m afraid to see where this show will go next.

  7. Now this is how fanservice should be!

The line about keys in Episode 2 is the funniest of any series so far this year, nicely detailed underwear too (Gonzo take notes). Episode 3 starts off slow but once it gets to frog-loli-in-a-tub (wtf was that about ?!?!) it becomes epic … smack

  8. i fully expect episode three’s post to have more pictures than kyou’s thighs… any series that reminds me of tenchi muyo and monty python at the same time is all to the good. battle on great erotic king!

  9. “pain must be felt raw”

    Episode 3 deserves an emmy.

Kouta is the best spineless lead ever.

  10. He does it because she wants it, not because he’s enjoying it. Or he’s afraid of the wrath of the wolf, as displayed in that episode. It still looks like he and Sunohara will hook up, or we’ll get a Sister Princess ending where the main lead runs off with a male friend.

  11. Speaking of fanservice, may I suggest Macross Frontier? We get Sheryl’s bra flying, Sheryl-in-the-bath, ‘wardrobe malfunction’ Sheryl, ‘Strippertastic’ Sheryl.. and for those who want it, Ranka in freefall and going ‘nii-san!’.

  12. Between this and To Love Ru, it is a very tolerable spring.

  13. Between this and To Love Ru, it is a very tolerable spring.

In any other season To Love Ru would be the harem / ecchi series but I just saw the latest episode after watching Kanokon and it just looks so tame in comparison.

Apart from the stella fanservice, another strong point of Kanokon is the seiyu cast which IMO is probably the best of any show this spring. They all seem to be totally enjoying themselves and delivering their lines with joyful abandon.

  14. “He does it because she wants it, not because he’s enjoying it. ”

I think you are missing the gag.

I am talking about the oil running when both started to feet fighting near Kouta crotch, the comment about “Kouta is healthy” (and Kouta being red faced) was about Kouta having a erection because they were accidentally rubbing his penis during their foot fighting.

And I got the gag even when I watched it RAW.

Besides he happy joined the butt spanking (also who made the suggestion?) , also in episode 2 it was clear he was memorized by her breasts (and pulled out at the last second just before he was grabbed).

  15. Only seen the first episode so far, but I have an alternate theory about Kouta. Notice that for all his protests, he’s not physically resisting or trying to escape when he has the chance. And judging from his reactions to Chizuru he’s not naive enough to not have a good idea of what her love letter meant, but he still goes to the room anyway. So why the verbal protests? Consider: 1) It’s their first time, and 2) It’s Japan. Mutual enthusiasm would kill the mood; since she’s all gung-ho this is his way of talking dirty.

  16. >>but fails at that but exceeds exceptionally in sounding like Hecate trying to extract power of existence from Yuji.

Kugimiya Rie moaning in Mnemosyne 3 is 100x better!

  17. Theory on why spineless male leads in harems have said harems:

They are all hung like Horses…

Or at least, that’s what I tell myself to rationalize series like this. I mean, Kouta is a farm boy. That’s gotta count for something!

  18. It takes a lot to make me giggle like that. Kanokon has the right stuff.

  19. Best part of this show? Kawasumi Ayako hands down.

Am I the only Ayako fan left out there these days (along with Karmaburn)?

No matter how many new seiyuu come out who are great, I still love Ayako’s work like none other.

  20. >> In any other season To Love Ru would be the harem / ecchi series but I just saw the latest episode after watching Kanokon and it just looks so tame in comparison.

To Love Ru is tame compared to Kanokon? Egads. I think both are equal. But Kamen no Maid Guy and Kyouran Kazoku Nikki need to join the discussion as well. Maybe even toss in Macross Frontier, Soul Eater, kurenai, and Code Geass as dark horses. Even a show that tries to be serious like Real Drive had a WTF fanservice moment. I think the studios just said, “Fuck DVD sales. We’re just making money off figurine and bouncy mousepad sales from now on” and hence the torrent of fanservice.

In a completely unrelated story, Rosario + Vampire is getting a second season.

  21. Um… how OLD are these characters? They look, what, 14 at MOST?

…or am I ready to expect a “Captain Obvious” picture regarding loli/shota?

  22. What year in school are they? If this is a high school setting for first years…then they should be 15 years old, maybe 16.

  23. Jason: The reason To-Love RU is tame is because they have Lala clothed fanservice, without the mounting. Now, Sheryl Fanservice is something I most heartily approve of, especially when we have that blatant camera work comparing her chest to meat buns… and she teases Alto about it later too.

  24. I think they have naked shoots Haesslich … without showing the goods but To-Love-Ru never really goes beyond “suddenly nudity” that is as far that show goes in terms of pushing and the fact they are down the old road of ecchi setups also does not help when we compare it with Kanokon pretty pretty much softcore.

  25. They have naked bath shots, certainly – but they’ve also got clothed shots too, like when Lala was changing outfits in Ep 3, I think it was. And they also have more slapstick, whereas Kanokon’s mostly about the softcore at this point. Two different shows, both with different types of fanservice.
