Eh, nothing really to report today. Some old YouTube videos that I’ve linked to in the past. Well, maybe a few new ones.
(A few readers e-mailed me letting me know of the new Ranka dance steps. Sadly, I cannot seem to get this feed going nor the ones for the Office Lady sketches. Someone, please, put them on YouTube.)

The craptastic OP that Fox Kids used for Escaflowne. No wonder it didn’t even make it past halfway. Is it even in the same league/planet/universe as Promises Not Necessary?

I think I got about a dozen people asking me if I had seen this video. Yes, yes I have. My only thought is why is this only one episode? I was under the impression it would be more, like 38 episodes more and carry an NC-17 rating. I’m highly disappointed.

Probably still my favorite Haruhi Suzumiya parody. The genius was that it went up almost immediately after the OP first aired. The goggles… they do nothing!!!
When I originally posted this one, I didn’t get a chance to comment on it. But this video is spectacular. The comedy level is off-the-charts, especially the last 30 seconds when The Hoff is chewing on the fish and going nuts. Songs like this one are exactly why he’s the hero of Germany. And, of course, this music video is the Code Geass R2 of the music video industry. Think about that for a second.

Because that’s the end of Tomoyo’s route from the original Clannad game?
I can see KyoAni doing a 13-episode Tomoyo After series sometime in the future. The game has a crap ending, though.

I hate Segata Sanshiro. Not by any fault of his own—the guy’s badass—but because I have a friend who is completely obsessed with Sega. He shows that exact video to people every chance he gets. Blech.
Kaisos: Well the DVD-only Episode 24 of CLANNAD IS Tomoyo after, or at least the start of it (I’m guessing up to the point where Tomoya graduates and becomes… a garbarge collector. Hellooooooooo blue collar…).
And LOL at the Haruhi/Higurashi shop. A Flower in Hell is really appropriate for a Higurashi OP… Makes me want to rewatch the second season again.
A few comments on the videos:
Second video: Anyone know how to blot out a specific two minutes of a person’s life. I’m under the impression that alcohol does too much area effect damage to the brain.
Third: Thank you Segata Sanshiro. For what it’s worth, the sega saturn was a good console, just ahead of its time.
Fourth: I actually like the trance techno. Obviously saying the same word over and over again is cheezy but I still like the music. Mind this good be nostalgia so I may be biased.
Last: Dear god. It only took forty seconds of it before I decided that I should try alcohol after all.

Actually, from what I’ve read on AS, it goes until the exact point the Tomoyo route ends… which is only a setup for Tomoyo After.

I actually like the music from the Fox Kids Escaflowne on its own terms, even though it is a symptom of the “americanization” that the show went through: shorter for more ads, more violent, less ambiguity, no romance.
Even though it was the first “real” anime series I saw, even I could tell they had butchered it.
