I found the Kyon picture amusing because it looks like Kyon is threathening another GIRL. In Seitenkan this would DEFINITELY be Itsuki, but I’ve also seen a few doujin lately that have a normal, girl Haruhi on the receiving end of Kyon’s anger…

And boo… The only real down side to Seitenkan is when the genderflipping only goes half-way. For example, only Kyon gets turned into a girl, and no one else is. THEN it gets VERY wierd, since all of a sudden we have yuri and yaoi permutations when the series of origin in question only had those in slight doses for FLAVORING.

Seitenkan done cleanly can be cute, amusing, and easily dismissable even for those partially broken by Jason. Seitenkan done half-heartedly, or whose loopholes are abused by fanartists with too much time on their hands can lead to absolutely terrifying results.

While we’re on the subject of self-cest, I would like to recommend an excellent short story called, “All You Zombies” by Robert Heinlein. There are, in fact, no zombies in the story. You will understand the title once you have finished the story. It is a very good read.
Is it heresy? I doubt that. For those that follow the Kyon-chan would willing follow the God Empress Haruhi when she returns…for only the God Empress has the one Yuki and the now and future moeblob Mikuru-run.
