Just a fantastic show. But you know that already. It takes typical harem conventions and pushes them to the next level. Just a hilarious blend of fanservice, comedy, and– egads– a half-way decent plot. There’s actually a dark and sad core to all the melonpanriffic fanservice. But that’s not to say the fanservice is bad– or the comedy. I don’t think I stopped laughing throughout the exploding underwear episode (instant classic) or the Tomoko episode (would have been the greatest genderbender, except, you know).

The characters drive this show, and they’re all fantastic. Loved Mikako, the greatest student council president (sorry Aka-chan!) of the year, her ability to manipulate people (especially poor Tomoki), and her cosplay outfits (the pilgram slayed me). Loved Sugata, the relatively sane one in a sea of loonies, his dry wit, and his obsession with the “New World.” Loved Sohara, the girl-next-door with a deadly karate chop, her ample hopes and dreams, and her undying devotion to that bastard Tomoki. Loved Nymph, the fallen angel, her tsundere nature, and her sad story (the bird… the bird’s wings… OMFG!). Loved Ikaros, the anti-Belldandy, her Doraemon-like ability to provide Tomoki with all those perverted toys, and her Chise-class weapon system. Loved Tomoki… my gosh. What can I say? Dude combines the public streaking of Akira Takizawa, the dirty mind of Bill Clinton, the womanizing of Tiger Woods, the self-confidence of Avon Stringer, the lack of self-awareness of William Shatner, the indestructibility of Wolverine, the guile of Kana Minami, the form factor of Danjuro Eiga, and the never-say-quit attitude of Kamina.

Needless to say, I am looking forward to season two.
