there’s no way my little sister’s life counseling can end like this 12

“This world is full of things that defy all common sense.”

(How sexist would it be if I made a “… especially those lacking a y-chromosome” comment? Very? Highly? Extremely? I know it’s sexist. I just want to know the scale I’m working on at that point.)

image

So Kirino’s big plan was for Kyousuke to buy some eroge. Eroge named “I’d Never Steal Something Like Onii-chan’s Pantsu!!” and “3D Custom Imouto!!” that are nicknamed “OniPan” and “CusImo.”

Mmm…

mmmph!!!

There’s no way my little sister can be this unself-aware? Can she be? My gosh, I liked how she raged over Kuroneko’s doujishi that featured her stealing Kyousuke’s pantsu and now wants to pick up a game about that? Or how both games are shortened in the same way OreImo is shortened? Why not just be totally blatantly obvious and nickname both games #OniPan and #CusImo? I mean… wow… just wow. I feel like we’re watching the Truman Show with Kirino as Truman.

image

Then the second part of her plan was to get him, who stayed in line for her all night, to play said eroges with him. Oh, the eroges just so happen to be about an imouto and her onii-chan splitting up… of course, Kirino, being such an eroge expert, must know about this route… hence why she wanted to play it with Kyousuke. Of course, she didn’t take it well when Kyousuke had a, “Well, what’s so bad about them splitting up? They can at least call, Twitter, and FaceTime”. Geez. That went over well. Needless to say, Kirino is evilly devious enough that I am lobbying for Chris Nolan to cast her as the main villain in the next Batman movie… The Imouto! Sounds like a big upgrade over The Penguin or Mr. Freeze.

image

“There’s no way anything my little sister owns can be this normal.”

The final part of her plan is to tell Kyousuke that she’s going to America… about four hours before her flight. Good tactic. Like that won’t piss him off. I also like this random American subplot… she’s going to America to train to run track? Seriously? That’s the best the writer could come up with? You’re so totally awesome as track as a middle schooler that for that tiny edge, you have to go to America? I can believe ice dancing or basketball… but track?

(I demand a race-off between Kirino, TWGOK‘s Ayumi, and Nayuki. I wonder who will win. Mmm… I might go for Ayumi. Never underestimate a sidetail. Never.)

(This is as bad as Ai Yori Aoshi devoting four episodes on whether or not Tina Foster wanted to go back to America for swimming. Instead of, you know, finishing up the meat of the plot between Ai and Kaoru… drove me crazy. No wonder ~Enishi~ ended the series. Just terrible judgment on JC Staff’s part. Of course, JC Staff was also responsible for the lukewarm Mahoraba ending about the same time… when Mahoraba already had a great ending in the manga ready to go. I feel cheated we never got to see Kozue-chan’s quintuplets.)

Then, she acts all tsuntsun because she doesn’t want to leave because she doesn’t want to be away from Kyousuke, but she cannot vocalize this. Instead, she enacts Kirino being Kirino protocol alpha and beats the shit out of Kyousuke. He just takes it like the sap he is, but he’s relieved to see that Kirino didn’t leave. These are some of the most emotionally dishonest characters in anime. They are perfect for each other.

image

I like how Kirino acted so deredere (even though this is like seeing Mr. Burns act nice) and slipped up with one, “tch”. Goodness. She’s more frightening than cute in deredere mode, kinda like right before someone snaps, rips your head off, and eat your brains. I do like her screensaver though. Cute octopus tentacle screensaver is swiftly approved.

Disappointed Kyousuke got totally cockblocked with Ayase by Kirino. I thought because of friendly they were, she and Kyousuke would get more going on thus leading Kirino to go Yuki on them both. Sigh. Now Ayase is even more ridiculously protective of Kirino and highly suspicious and judgmental of Kyousuke… which means… she’s insanely jealous that Kyousuke and Kirino have a forbidden fruit thing going! Would be excellent development to have Ayase go Yuki on the two special K’s.

(What I enjoyed about this scene was how Kyousuke totally dumped Manami to hang out with Ayase. Let’s just say if I were walking around with someone fully stuck in the friend zone and met up with my little sister’s hawt model friend, I would totally dump the friend with a, “I need to talk with this hawt, young model about my little sister. Cya later!”)

image

“No matter how you look at it, a middle school girl asking her brother to go buy an eroge is totally–”

I laughed. I cried. I grilled an unicorn over a rainbow.

image

Worst part is all the fujoshi were slapping Akagi, and he didn’t do anything! He should have been, “Ladies… I have a problem… maybe you can help me out.” That line would have worked with at least one of them, especially if he impressed her with his detailed knowledge of these hardcore otome games. And I liked how the fujoshi line was as long as the siscon line. Good job by all. Needless to say, you won’t find this kind of reception at the next opening of a Nick Cage movie.

image

There’s no way Kyousuke’s little sister can beat him up that badly. Two slap, a knee, plus a headbutt can’t cause a Rei Ayanami-amount of blood loss. Sheesh. Kyousuke must either be a hemophiliac or a clone created by Nerv to stop the impending imouto invasion.

(Everything is better with imoutos. Angry Imouto, ImoutoVille, ImoutoCraft, Imouto Effect, Day of the Tentacle: Special Imouto Edition, Gran Imouto, Imouto Imouto Revolution, Imouto May Cry, SMT Imouto Summoner, etc.)

image

Can’t wait for Kanako to grow up to be a bitter, has-been, chain-smoking idol who feels like she was completely wronged by the world. Will suit her well. Her soul crushing has only started.

image

This cracks me up for some reason. I can imagine the parents watching Kirino’s anime and see their jaws drop when it gets to the hawt lesbian loving between Kirino’s self-insertion fantasy lead and her harem of imoutos.

image

“How big is your head.”

Clever and insulting. I like it. But not as much as… “I’ll be calling him something different soon enough.” A reference to Kuroneko end? I want to know!

(With my luck, she’ll be calling him “Kyousuke-ko” because Kuroneko would have finished her doujinshi about Kirino and her imouto, Kyousuke-ko. OTL.)

image

Enjoyed Kuroneko’s scene in the end as well. Nekomimi meido is my one true weakness. Also enjoyed how her two imoutos were o_o;; about her. Double imouto! That’s a full imouto! OMG that’s a double imouto all the way! Whoa! OMG! OMG!!!

image

“She has something crazier than eroge and anime?”

“It’s embarrassing, but I’ll let you see.”

I see!

image

Saori went “nyor~n” at the end of the phone call? Uh… so… let’s just say any end not involving Ayase, Kuroneko, and know Saori should be considered total fail on Kyousuke’s part. I am hoping for Saori to offer me a smoked cheese sampler platter dressed up as a nekomimi meido while going “nyor~n”… anime has completely destroyed me ability to fantasize. Once upon a time, I dreamed of Kelly Kapowski…

“BAAAAAAAAAKA!!!”

Why do I think of Astrea and Tomoki?

image

PFP! Kirino x Keima and Tachibana x Kogarashi. (Read my Twitter feed for details.) Let’s make these happen.

I don’t blame AIC for milking this franchise by offering four more BD-only episodes as they need to drive BD sales for cold, hard cash. I do blame them for offering alternate endings as, really, this franchise isn’t over and if BD sales are good, we can expect a second season. Let’s not pretend it’s over. It’s over when Kyousuke and Kirino finally unleash their mutual attraction to each other as half the audience goes “OH GEASS NO!!!” while the other half nods in appreciation. (For those guys nodding, you must be Yosuga no Sora fans.)

  1. Truer words have never been said (with regards to copping out with just a 12-episode cour). Studios are getting really cautious these days. When was the last time we had a 24-episode season for a show like this anyway?

  2. … this needed more Kuroneko. KURONEKO….!

  3. “For those guys nodding, you must be Yosuga no Sora fans.”

    So-Ra! So-Ra! So-Ra!!!

  4. It’s not that they’re getting cautious. They’re getting paranoid.

  5. At least we know what Kanako’s stage name will be: Akira Kogami.

  6. The writers really should have come up with something original with the good end, either way, good end is a good end, now waiting for true end which isn’t really a true end since it could open up to a second season.

  7. Wow, way to alter the novels here. In case anyone was wondering, in the novels, Kirino really does go to America and isn’t in the next book. Perhaps that’s where they’re going with the “true ending.”

  8. (Totally unrelated, but Mahoraba’s manga ending wasn’t released for over a year after the anime ended, so… that one wasn’t really their fault. Not that it’s a total excuse either…)

  9. WHAT? If Kirino is not in the next book, then I want to see Takagi’s imouto screen time. I mean, how can OreImo be OreImo without an imouto…

  10. Kyousuke found his inner Keima. In the final moments of the series, he finally stepped out of the dense male lead mold and realized the stereotyped flag Kirino raised for him. Rather than taking the obvious route for the good end, he forces his OreImo to stop relying on him on make choices she obviously wanted. A page right out of Keima’s playbook to “mans up and refuses Kanon’s first attempt to kiss him. “

  11. “For those guys nodding, you must be Yosuga no Sora fans.”
For the record, those of us going “OH GEASS NO!!!” can also be Yosuga no Sora fans. The best kind of trainwreck is one you can see coming a mile away but can’t do anything about.

  12. Seriously? That’s the best the writer could come up with? You’re so totally awesome as track as a middle schooler that for that tiny edge, you have to go to America? I can believe ice dancing or basketball… but track?

I think a middle schooler writing a short novel and managing to get it published, then to make it into an anime (I’m not sure if that’s the writer’s fault, or that’s AIC’s doing) should have warned that the writer has no real qualms about making improbable things up for the plot.
    ..
    Also:

… this needed more Kuroneko. KURONEKO….!

Agreed. Interesting character, interesting background, interesting development… the show might have been better off if it was about her.
    Also, more Saori ojou-sama.

  13. Kanako would need oversized sleeves though…

  14. Kirino isn’t the one who’ll end up with Kyousuke, from what I’ve heard about the light novels.
On a completely unrelated note, that scene with Kuroneko needed Kana Hanazawa’s voice over so badly…

  15. >Day of the Tentacle: Special Imouto Edition

    please, take my money

The mutant combination of Kirino, Kuroneko and Kyousuke would be…. interesting

  16. Kuroneko calling Kyousuke “anata” in the near future? MUST SEE!

  17. Bad end. Kirino is still alive.

  18. I’m pretty sure that in the novels that Ruri and Kyousuke start dating…
Which I would honestly have preferred over the lukewarm imouto ending we got from the anime.
I mean, if you’re going to have an imouto ending, might as well go all out and be like Yosuga no Sora.
    Go big or go home!

  19. “Bad end. Kirino is still alive.”

    I totally agree! /signed

This plot is so ridiculous I’m really scared of the True ending…
More assy cockblocker Kirino in 4 extra episodes?? please no, I can not believe people actually pay for this!?

  20. How sexist would it be if I made a “… especially those lacking a y-chromosome” comment?

I’ve been hanging around here for so long I don’t feel qualified to judge any more.

(I demand a race-off between Kirino, TWGOK‘s Ayumi, and Nayuki. I wonder who will win. Mmm… I might go for Ayumi. Never underestimate a sidetail. Never.)

I think you should be more conflicted here. Remember, Nayuki ties her hair up in a ponytail when she runs races.

A pretty good episode to end up with. Everyone appears, Kirino is Kirino, Kuroneko was fantastic as always, the entire Kousaka family are tsunderes and the ending is a happy one that doesn’t end in a Kirino x Kyousuke ending.

  21. Holy shit Kelly Kapowski. We are old geezers, Jason.
Also, screw OreImo bonus episodes. Kuroneko deserves an entire series for herself. And her family O_O;;-ing at her cray yer deliciously moe antics.

  22. They really need a second season…. We haven’t seen Saori
    Vageena’s real face~~!!!! >.

  23. This episode… was disappointing. It was like a fanfic devised by anti-wincest moralfags. SIGH.
I see their plan, the cunning bastards. They force me to buy the BD release to enjoy my true ending, which will most likely disappoint me as well, which would then force me to buy the light novels/manga.

  24. Everything is better with imoutos. Angry
Imouto, ImoutoVille, ImoutoCraft, Imouto Effect, Day of the
Tentacle: Special Imouto Edition, Gran Imouto, Imouto Imouto
Revolution, Imouto May Cry, SMT Imouto Summoner,
    etc.

Sword of the New Imouto. Riiiight, I sooo
    don’t want that. http://sotnw.mmosite.com/ (MMO
I play btw) Though…fill it with Imoutos and that’d be an even
    better game.
