So the annual survey by Recochoku (ANN link) is out ranking the people’s choice for characters that they want as either a bride or a groom… since I have no opinion on the groom side except “Wait, why are all these characters from either Gintama, Hitman Reborn, or Bleach?”, let’s just focus on the bride side (for now).

– I’m not surprised K-On! dominates this list, not surprised Mio is #1, not surprised Azusa is so close to surpassing Yuki (if K-On! were 24 episodes… mmm…), but I am surprised that Yui’s on the list. Hun? You’d rather have the evolutionary Fuko as a bride than the vastly more waifu material Ui?
– We all love Hinagiku (who won in 2008)… but… uh… no Maria!? Sigh. And poor Nagi… anyway, notice how zero of these characters come from an anime based on a visual novel? They either come from manga or a light novel.
– That settles it. It’s Sheryl over Ranka. What ’bout my star???
– Maybe at first, I thought that the virtually all Japanese voters would go for quiet, obedient nadesico types… uh, nope. Why is both Taiga and Asuka on this list then… and not Rei. Asuka is also the oldest (in terms of series) on the list.
– But Yuki secretly dominates the mindshare of Japanese fanboys… as I mentioned in the last K-On! post, she has eviscerated both Haruhi and Mikuru. That’s probably why she got most of the stories in Haruhi-chan.

Anime Waifu Power Rankings™ (2009 Top Ten Edition)
kakifly and Kyoto has unleashed something more contagious and more deadly and more mini-top hatty than the swine flu.
Just remember that Mikuru eventually morphs into Mikuru Prime. Though I’m not sure which I prefer more… the baby-faced, cowering Mikuru, or the confident, mature Mikuru Prime. Surely there’s a time paradox waifu ending possible with Mikuru.
Leaving Belldandy off of any waifu power rankings is like leaving Jordan out of any top 10 NBA players of all time list. *shakes head* Is it because she doesn’t put out?
About right for Maria. Andohbytheway, her intro in Wonder Wind rips off Belldandy’s in My Heart; Your Heart.
Will necessitate the building of a gym storage shed behind the house… which I’ll start on after I finish writing this post.

Actual waifu material. This makes five from Kyoto… though I probably would have gone with either Sawa-chan, Sanae, or Akiko if I didn’t fear for my life. I still think Akiko poisoned her husband with jammu while Sanae is subconsciously poisoning Akio with her bread.
Is Kallen the greatest waifu potential mecha pilot? Besides Athrun?

Not sure if I would choose #10 Misato, great choices by the way. But if you gonna pick a token Aya Hirano’s character. Then you should pick Ayumi from “Hyakko” who play by none other than Aya. Now the some waifu I would have with a side order of syrup, butter and Mio

*groans* I still shake my head at surveys like the one linked by Jason. I don’t see a point to it, really, given the population sample used.
Not a bad list you have there, although, I’m not so crazy about Mio like everyone else seems to be, and your number 10 leaves something to be desired… I’d switch out your number 10 with Matsurika, and slot in someone else in place of mio… probably Sakaki from Azumanga, and then I’d shuffle the order around a bit.
I strongly object to the low ranking of the amazing Haruka. Though on second thought, if that means you leave her for me, I guess that’s fine…
Wheres #10 from?
If you were going to pick a Hirano Aya character, her character from Himawari! is probably the best choice… though that leaves you with the unfortunate position of having to actually watch Himawari!

For some reason the Belldandy makes me think either that she’s in the middle of a dance number,

The obvious explanation of a lack of Rei in the ranking, is that Yuki has siphoned votes away from her. Generally in a top-10, you get different character types represented in the poll. That’s just the way things go.
But we ARE weeks away from Evangelion 2.0. So things can always change.
Aya’s character in Akane is named Minato, not Misato.
It’s not because of the source material, it’s because of the perception that those girls are “used goods”. Since they’re from games that are played by the masses, characters like Kyou, Tomoyo, Kaede, Touka, or Sayuri are only a step higher than being considered as loose women, and thus undesirable in long-term relationships. That’s just the way things are in their eyes. Witness the furor by the fans during the revelation in the Kannagi manga with that certain plot twist, vague as it may be. How much more your typical visual novel heroine?
Also, you have Sayuri, but no Mugi? I’d complain, but that’s your list. I’ll gladly take Mugi then, and since you have Sayuri, that frees up Mai for me as well. Everyone wins! …And no Hinagiku? Score!–wait, I’d rather have Nishizawa, though. Never let it be said I am a greedy man. …Then again, since you’re taking Belldandy, should I call you Jason-aniki (yes, I’m claiming Skuld-chan, along with Sasami and Ruri too, can’t beat the classics)?

Marrying anime women is a terrible idea for one of three reasons:
– They’ll kill you indirectly due to slapstick-ey accidents.
– They’ll kill you indirectly due to bitter-as-hell love rivals.
– They’ll kill you directly. NO DISASSEMBLE, RENA!
…which, admittedly, begs the question: which female anime superfreaks would make for the wildest ride before the inevitable Nice Boat end?
Just checking, but isn’t her name Minato not Misato? Geez Jason, at least get your wife’s name right.

I was actually thrilled to see Asuka on there. Most people I talk to hate her, but I’ve always been fond of her. Guess I’m not alone. And, yes, it may stress me out too much, but Haruhi would be on my list, without a doubt.
1. Ushio (Clannad) : Because she knows how to take out the competition.
2. Yui’s Guitar (K-ON) : Looks smoking hot in a seifuku.
3. Index Librorum Prohibitorum (A Certain Magical Index) : Putting sexy back into the Vactican’s list of blasphemous books.
4. Sakura Kinomoto (Cardcaptor Sakura): The original moe with the power to turn gay side characters straight.
5. Mio Akiyama (K-ON): Because strabismus is sexy.

Here’s my recent top ten list for The Power Moe Nine
1. Hinagiku Katsura (For me Mio is is a bit overrated to be on the top, Hinagiku is still no.1)
2. Haruka Minami ( Moe queen of diamonds)
3. Yuki Nagato ( Moe queen of spades)
4. Tomoyo Sakagami (reigning best Moe class president)
5. Fate Testarossa (she is not around in this year’s SaiMoe yet still one of my power moe nine)
6. Felli Loss (The Moe with the Legendary Leg Breaker)
7. Mio Akiyama (decipher it the other way around, a newcomer need Moe Moe ÂÂÂKyun time)
8. Mikoto Misaka (I still want to be shoot with her railgun)
9. Kagami Hiiragi (despite at the bottom, she remained the Tsundere Champion)
Avoiding Haruhi Suzumiya, Belldandy, and Lynn Minmay would be wise since they are legendary and untouchable. (Depending on the outcome of the new episodes of Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya whether Haruhi Suzumiya’s legendary status would be affected)

One might notice Jason’s like of breasts with this list. Nearly the entire set have the largest or second largest breast in their respective series, with Kyou and Tomoyo sharing second place (though these two may be chosen due to their thighs more than their breasts).
Speaking of Minato… the DVD special is out, and it was epic. At first, when I saw the list, I thought, why is Minato in the list? Now, after seeing the uncensored joygasms and fanservice, I ask, why is Minato ranked so low?
