ああっ女神さまっ 25

Episode 25 rehashes the “Trials of Morisato” arc that followed the Lord of Terror (which 24 concluded), though for the anime, Urd’s story comes before Skuld’s. Because of the disruption to the Yggdrasil system, Urd and Belldandy no longer have their power sources and must rely on their backups. For Bell, it means sleeping — almost as much as Yakumo, though Bell can conserve power by going into Mini Bell mode. And I’m a big fan of Mini-Bell. For Urd, it’s alcohol and more alcohol, which is hiliarious considering that the side effect is that, since she’s also the “Goddess of the Past”, she loses age and ends up looking like a little kid. After considerable ribbing from the gang and an OTL-ish moment where she realizes that she lost her cup size, Urd leaves the temple and enjoys her second childhood. She meets a young boy named Shohei, and they become fast friends over a game of Lumines. Following the manga, Jailbait Urd teaches him how to overcome his fears, but theirs is not to be.

I think they changed the order of the stories since I think Skuld’s story stronger and would be a “better” final episode. Urd’s mostly concerns only herself and a throwaway character while Skuld’s pretty much is about everyone but Urd. But this flip-flop causes the introduction of the weird, “Uh, why is Skuld fine?” question and really skimps on how Bell and K1 create the cure for Urd. In the manga, Curvy Skuld and K1 go to the campus and find moon rocks, which leads to a cute scene where Mini Bell gets jealous because Curvy Skuld is holding onto K1 too tight, and K1’s solution for procuring a moon rock was fairly clever. I feel deprived. In episode 25, Bell and K1 kinda just disappear and later reappear with a moon rock. In any case, this story does highlight how Urd, despite her carefree nature, can still be a goddess sometime. Plus, any story element that causes Mini Bell to appear or have a Jailbait Urd get wasted on sake in broad daylight in a public park is always enjoyable.

I need this episode, and that comes from someone who haven’t see any AMG since at last ten years.
