cleaning out the stash

Fanservice Week is almost over. I’m going to be back slapping down Lucky Star posts soon enough. This may not be a good thing.

(Yes, can it be Fanservice Week without 14-is-the-new-38DD Suzu?)

  1. Please don’t flame me for being a fan of School Days, but allow me to say this:

I admire a person who finishes what he started. However, Lucky Star isn’t really a show that can be blogged a lot about. On the other hand, I see a lot of potential to say a lot of things about the events of School Days. I do wish that I could’ve read about your ranting and witty comments that you might have had on a train-wrecked show like School Days, as I have enjoyed very much your prior blogs on other trainwrecked shows like Mai Otome.

Oh well, I can’t have everything in life. And I do suppose your lesser blogging is a good sign that your life is keeping you busy. I will continue to enjoy your blogs though.

  2. Pic 2 is why I read your blog, jason

  3. I am creeped out by meido Eruru while Major Hiiragi looks so in-character.

  4. Suzu looks really freaky in the top one. But the second’s awesome.

  5. train-wrecked show like School Days

Trolling, aren’t we? School Days is not even remotely as train-wrecked as your comment.

  6. 1st pic is win, but the 2nd pic left my speechless, looked so….. right. @Sheba, i so agree with you.

  7. I’m also really digging #2…. May make it my wallpaper, even if it means ditching my current Wii one…

  8. Since Kagami does say that she plays shooter games, this image may actually be in-character (or at least in-game).

actually i think she said she play sroll shooting game(ie touhou)

    QFT!

Though I also read because for the obscure 80’s and 90’s television pop culture references (90210 FTW!) and sports comparisons. And for so long I thought I was the only person who thought that way. :P Keep it up Jason!

I enjoy the BBC links more though. Not sure what that says about me.

  12. School Days is not a trainwreck, its simply not the standard romance/harem anime.

Not that would not be interesting to blog about it but it would just lead to “Makoto must die” comments and I am tired of seeing then.

I am holding my judgement about School Days as a whole. While the drama can be retarded in a delicious Melrose Place Gone Wrong way, the script writers could very well pull a Shuffle on Kotonoha, have her turn into a nice girl again and BAM surprise deus ex machina happy end!

  14. I know … but that seems to happened in Shuffle! the game proper and School Days have … well a more realistic scenario … when people break they are not easily fixed and anime series tend to complete and utter forget about it and just fix it with some “band aid” situation.

(KyoAni fanboys sould well remember that their oh-so-precious studio is guilty of that, I have not forgotten their coop-out in Kanon)

Right now I have no idea where they are heading in School Days, the whole thing is mess and I cannot see in what it can turn out.

  15. @bakaneko
I think it’s actually the other way around. Lucky Star is a show that has endless possibilities when it comes to writing about it. Because it’s full of those “true-to-life” moments and slice of life humor, every person will have a different take on it and will relate to different aspects of the show.
    .
School Days, on the other hand – all the blog posts I’ve read about that show are just repeating the same things over and over. Either their vociferous rants against Makoto and the rest of cast and how they need to die in a fire, or they’re attempts to defend or explain their actions.
    .
There’s been very little said about School Days that’s actually interesting, whereas every blogger I’ve seen who’s writing about Lucky Star manages to have an interesting and unique take on the show.

  16. Loved the meido Eruru. And HOW!!

But anyway, as for SCHOOL DAYS…well…should anything be noted with even the modicum of alacrity seeing as how it’s based on a eroge? I mean, please….. Given it’s dubious pedigree, it seems to be chugging along just fine….it’s not like the old joke….”Train #13 from Baltimore now arriving on tracks 4, 5 & 6 is coming in sideways….” Sure, Makoto doesn’t quite effect the slapstick lecherousness of Ataru Moroboshi or the charming indecisiveness of Kasuga Kyosuke….but he carries their torch quite brightly all the same. I do, like Sheba’s MELROSE PLACE reference…I can see that level. I can also almost see a DALLAS kind of thing fixin’ to happen….like “Who Shot JR?”…or, when Bobby woke up from that dream. Then again, maybe their going to drag this out and tear our hearts into a million little pieces like MARMALADE BOY. And we’ll all just have to cry our selves to sleep all over again.

    Well…thanks for the fanservice.

I hope I’ve said something interesting about SCHOOL DAYS.

  17. your caption below Suzu’s pic reminded me of Saaya Irie and her bikini picture (the one that was taken when she was 11).

Oh I remember that. Kanon 2006 as a whole is nice, but the overdose of “Miracle” at the end left a taste in my mouth I cant let go, just like how Near got all the cards in his hands against Kira way too easily, or the many Geass’ plot twists for the sake of the twist.

I am now watching Seirei no Moribito to see how I.G gonna unfold the whole thing.

  19. “Lucky in the Shell” is now my new wallpaper… at least for a while. ^^

  20. The second pic is now my new wallpaper.

…Until the next Gurren-Lagann episodes wows us again.

  21. Kagami has purple hair just like Major as well. How perfect.

  22. Did I mention I’m using Kagamin as my desktop on both my screens?
That’s just how awesome this pic is :D

  23. If Kagami is the Major, does that make Shirashi Batou? Mind you, a Full Metal Panic wallpaper would also work for Kagami given her love of the show.

  24. I actually prefer the “bookworm girl” version of that Eruruu pic myself… she’s just so moe with glasses.

(Side note: why isn’t there more fanart of Eruruu feature tail groppage? I so badly wanted to get an Eruruu cosplayer at the last con I attended to let me reenact the tail stroke scene with her while my brother snapped photos. I wimped out only because she had her mom with her.)

  25. They should just adapt the murder endings in School Days and get it over with. At this point in the series, that’s the only ending that’s not going to look messy (from a point of view) and not seem like a quick-fix solution that worked too conveniently.. -_-

  26. I’ll be honest: Suzu does not look attractive at all. She looks like I could catch an STD off of her just by sitting beside her. A burning sensation when I pee is not attractive. Pic 2 and 3 though win.
