If you like fanservice and you like furries, I think 2008 is looking up. Yesterday, I introduced Kanokon, and today I’ll introduce Wolf and Spice, which is another fanservice-laden animal girl series. Unlike yesterday’s offering of pure fanservice in modern Japan filled with melonpanriffic fox girls, Wolf and Spice is set in a fantasy world adventure setting filled with DFC wolf girls. Big distinction. The manga for this series is being translated by Musashi Quality.

A quick glance over the first two chapters gives me a feeling of Kouhei and Hazuki (from Moon Phase).
Probably not safe for work.
Fanservice? Fanservice?
Man, that’s totally, totally wrong.
The only fanservice in the entire series is the one in the first two chapters. If you think this is a story based on the premise of fanservice, you’re in for a very, very rude shock. Wolf and Spice is actually a gripping story centred on the seldom-touched subject of trade and economics. Yes, hard as it is to believe it, Wolf and Spice actually made economics exciting! It is helped by presenting a cast of realistic yet memorable characters in a not-quite medieval world that is well fleshed-out, in the novel at least.
And if you’re looking for furries, unfortunately there’s only one: the main female lead Horo. Who will herself twist your mind about in so many ways it’s not funny. She didn’t win the 2006 “best female character in a light novel” award for nothing – she’s best described as “devilish.”

Well, if Wolf and Spice does for economics what Moyashimon did for me on microbes, then I’m all for it. Bonus points if a derailing is included.
(embarrassed) I guess the lesson here is don’t judge a book by a quick glance at the first two chapters of its comic adaptation.
I think we need to make a quick distinction between furries and animal girls. This is a furry (yes, I actually googled it. I feel dirty now that I know what a fursuit is), while this is a catgirl. Foxgirls fall under the same categorization. Essentially the furry is a humanoid version of that animal, while foxgirls/catgirls/etc. only have specific characteristics of said animal (ears, tail, claws).
Not only are you so completely wrong about the fanservice thing but Horo is pretty endowed considering her 15-year old girl human form so there really isn’t any DFC to be had.

I agree. If you can have sexy ladies and all with even agriculture, economics will still do okay.
You are taking advantage of the word DFC like a cheap whore. Horo is definately not DFC.
Maybe chest size labels are like phasers, you can only set them to “stun” or “kill.”
I’m surprised no one asked so far so i’ll do: anyway to buy/download the novels in english?
not that i know of, there are plenty avaliable chinese translations, but official through kodakawa taiwan or fan translated ones, but english light novel are extremely rare

This is not fanservice based at all the only the first two chapters have any at all and thats b/c it fits the story line. manga and anime are one my top 5 this season, haven’t gotten my hands on the novel yet.
