seitokai no ichizon 9

A serious Chizuru episode? Nooooooo!

image

I don’t get it. Seitokai no Ichizon can be an amazing comedic vehicle, when it wants to be. I want non-stop gags. I want fanservice. I don’t want any semblance of half-assed character development. Even if it involves the Chizuru bullying route.

(Is that other girl Chizuru’s spurned lover from middle school? She got jealous that Chizuru got popular? I need more concrete details here. Andohbytheway, if Chizuru was such amply developed in middle school, she would be insanely popular.)

image

I feel like… somewhere… Echo of Death is being very jealous right now. He might even seek revenge against Ken be bullying him.

image

Gives me a great idea for a story. “Little Red Riding Hood and Wolf.” It’s about a little girl who embarks on a lengthy journey to find her grandmother. She finances her trip by trading commodities during her travels. She eventually stumbles across a wolf spirit who has neither “gluttony” nor “modesty” in her dictionary…

(I wonder if [original] Aka-chan’s favorite manga is Shakugan no Shana. Also, the fact that she questions Mafuya on whether or not Run Melos is a BL book shows that she’s just sandbagging. Betcha [original] Aka-chan has a Kindle that she sleeps with.)

image

[Original] Aka-chan isn’t jealous that Chizuru is moving on Ken… it’s that she’s jealous that Ken’s moving on Chizuru. How dare you bypass the President route like that! It goes Mafuya then Aka-chan then Minatsu and finally Chizuru. It’s progression. You don’t want to screw it up. Going for Chizuru first is like marrying the leggy, blonde nanny and then blowing thousands of dollars on skanky hookers. Blow the money on the skanky hookers before marrying the leggy, blonde nanny… lest she tries to attack your SUV with an eight iron.

(I had a discussion the other day at the driving range as to what would be the optimum club to use if you wanted to hit people. The answer: three iron. Good reach, heaviest iron, angled head. You actually don’t want to use a driver, since they’re just too long to get a good overhead with, and most of their shafts are not made with metal. They’re also just long enough that you might get it caught on something during a windup. With a three iron, you’re guaranteed to get multiple good blows in.)

image

Dumbest argument ever. Which qualifies both Mafuya and Ken to start blogging. If you mastered the art of stupid, insipid, inane arguments offline, you’re ready to start taking them online. Here… let me start one now. Gundam Seed is the greatest anime of 00s.

(And, yes, I can’t wait for Keima to try to capture Mafuya. Screw the non-emo ramen girl. We need some Mafuya in TWGOK. Or is Mafuya more like a final boss for Keima? And I can’t believe they didn’t go the Miki route for the ramen girl. I feel like TWGOK has failed me somehow.)

image

I can imagine Chizuru doing the children’s hour readings at the local library. That would be so awesome.

image

Seitokai doesn’t need super deformed faces. It needs… that’s right! Bible Black faces! You’re telling me this series couldn’t be improved with Bible Black faces?

image

I like how her friend had like exactly five words of dialogue. Sigh. If you’re trying to be serious, don’t half-ass it. I want the friend to scream something like, “I thought you loved me! All those nights we spent together!”

(Who would be the funniest anime character that Chizuru meets on that bridge? Mikuru? Senjougahara? Kuroko? Lacus Clyne? Potemayo? Pikachu!? PIKA PIKA!)

image

Reminds me… I bought a copy of Zaregoto, and the cover says, “From the author of Death Note: Another Note“. I’m telling you. Anime marketing is clueless sometimes. I wonder how many people are going to be wandering around Borders and then go, “Hey, it’s from that dude who wrote that Death Note spin-off no one read… I gotta have it!” See, I would have gambled, and wrote something like “From the author of Bakemonogatari and Katanagatari” figuring that both anime would come out about when the book comes out hoping for the off-chance one of those would be good. Death Note: Another Note… sigh. Still not as bad as ADV’s “If you had twelve sisters, what would you do?” campaign for Sister Princess.

image

Last books I read… The Farthest Shore… Take Your Photography to the Next Level… and somewhere in the Hall of Fame pyramid in Bill Simmons’ Book of Basketball. I was chatting with someone at Borders during his book signing in San Francisco, and he believes that more people will show up for Bill Simmons than for Sarah Palin’s Going Rogue. And I think he’s right.

(Andohbytheway, Mafuya is holding the last books that Haesslich has read.)

I still want my Detroit Metal City parody with Chizuru as Krauser and Ken as the Pig of Capitalism… and this in on top of my parody request for Mio as Krauser and Mugi as the Pig of Capitalism.

image

I’ll mod this eyecatch +5 cute. There’s no question in my mind that Chizuru has already explored every peak and valley of [original] Aka-chan’s body. None. They’ve gone farther than Chizuru and any of her previous loves.

  1. It always feels kinda wrong when Mafuyu is the highlight of the episode – and she was, when she started pouting at Ken when he tried to skip asking her about reading material. Hmm, if even Ken thinks Mafuyu is an easy capture, then Keima should be laughing…until he realises that she’s most interested in Ken for his secret aptitude for writing BL and as an actor in her various BL fantasies.

It was better than last weeks, but I’m still not that impressed. This is what happens when you sideline Minatsu!

  2. Even up until episode 9, you still mistype Mafuyu as Mafuya..

    O_O
    I think I just orgasmed.

  4. Jason-ko,
The 3-iron discussion and sister princess references? You’ve definitely still got it. Oh lawd, I had forgotten about how terrible that ad campaign was. Stay golden, Jason-ko, stay golden.

  5. Uh oh! Drama in a comedic anime? It never fails- to drive me away. I was on the verge of getting sucked into this show with the last recap, but now I think I can manage on the sidelines.

Personally, I would choose one of the heftier brands of putter- the weight is concentrated in the head (though it is short, so your mileage may vary). This needs to be be Hinamizawa-tested.

  6. “Who would be the funniest anime character that Chizuru meets on that bridge? ”

I was expecting Kotonoha as soon as I saw a bridge.

Oh, them’s fighting words. I think the best parts of this episode, which you missed, were the Chizuru flag-trippings which went on at the start, during the fortune-telling bit, and at the very end when Ken went into serious-mode with Chizuru. Those, and her somewhat flirty comments: “Aren’t you happy? You always want to touch my body at other times”, along with her “Pleasure at the end of pain” soundbites.

I should note the way the start and end of the episode seem to take place during the ‘hold my hand’ bits… although whether they all take place in Chizuru”s head only (or if they’re doing a quiet body-language sorta-understanding of the other’s thoughts) is another story… although with it, they’re hinting at Ken’s own troubled middle-school past, which is mentioned in the later novels/manga, from what I’ve heard.

Besides, for an expert on BL I suggest you talk to Shin – he’s the one whose quotes about how a penis doesn’t matter if they’re pretty and preferring traps to girls at times is more in line with Mafuya’s interests… ;)

  8. Also, may I mention the screencap at the end of Ep 10? Evil BL girl looks interesting. :D

  9. Heck, the return of the sheep suit in Ep 10’s good enough…

  10. Who would be the funniest anime character that Chizuru meets on that bridge?

    Shizuru Fujino

  11. loved this ep :33

    no comment on the handholding?!

    !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  12. Hmm, everyone is afraid of a little character development? It’s true that most comedy series do it badly, but I think Seitokai no Ichizon is actually doing it pretty well. They introduce things from the past but nobody is breaking down into a full Higurashi style fit. As long as they keep it light it doesn’t really distract from the comedy for me. It just makes the characters a little more three dimensional (which is a plus in my book).

  13. I’d like Chizuru to meet Touya on the bridge and for him to call her his ‘goddess’ and then watch heads roll LOL

  14. They need to make more use of that full eyecatch bgm.

I feel like… somewhere… Echo of Death is being very jealous right now. He might even seek revenge against Ken be bullying him.

No reason for him to be jealous. It was established previously that Echo of Death-niisan shared Ken with Nakameguro. He’s probably even in that scene, just slightly below frame.

(Who would be the funniest anime character that Chizuru meets on that bridge? Mikuru? Senjougahara? Kuroko? Lacus Clyne? Potemayo? Pikachu!? PIKA PIKA!)

It doesn’t even have to be from another show. I can’t decide between Mokyuu~Chizuru and Echo of Death-niisan. One would give Mafuyu’s delusions the Chaos Head level powers they deserve and the other’s potential is limitless.

Drama? In my comedic anime? It’s more likely than you might think.

It’s not like it’s entirely unexpected. The op disguises drama potential about as much as the standard Sunrise op disguises major plot developments. It was pretty clear how things were going to go eight episodes ago.

  15. Reasons why even if they are holding hands Chizuru doesn’t feel a thing since she’s a lesbian…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….as she confirmed during the loli episode. Her heart is already belong
to someone else pointing to Aka-chan (though aka-chan is in love with the lolicon).
