typical harem moment alert

Miss Heart’s Content chapter 2 is up. The third and final chapter is delayed a bit as it’s significantly longer than the first and second. I’ll have something else for you guys for July 4th.

Same disclaimer: I don’t want to get into a discussion about the story or why characters do this or that. At least not yet and not before the first chapter or two of the manga is available. Right now, we’re basically tossing you into the fire, but we need victims beta-testers.

  1. The illustration for that chapter has some glaring errors (note the scale and position of the characters). I’m as embarrassed as Karin Maaka and I will fix the picture as soon as I get the chance.

  2. The story’s pretty good. Definitely a OH GEASSON YES moment!
(Omg horrible pun, but if you read it the right way… YES it is Jason!)

  3. Sounds like an interesting read…

I had a similar idea 3 years ago involving a school full stereotypical Fighting characters. Only thing was my artist prematurely quit.

  4. oi if you guys (want or) need some one to for coloring or dawning help I’d be interested.

  5. Eric’s protests to cross dressing are rather weak. Which makes him seem like he actually wants it… this can’t be leading to… phew, he’s the only male character, okay :)

I think you need to spend some time describing the characters more, or make them more distinct from each other… somehow. Maybe you could play on their arch types more. Right now, they’re somewhat bland.

    @Sixten
How long does it take to shade a page?

  6. >> I’m as embarrassed as Karin Maaka

Wait, let me get this straight. You draw me as a ponytailed DFC loli, yet you refer to yourself as a melonpanriffic vampire? Where am I? Is this bizarro world? Am I in the vanilla sky?

CTRL-V 4tw! I don’t want to get into a discussion about the story or why characters do this or that. At least not yet and not before the first chapter or two of the manga is available.

No, that just means he’s nosebleeding over the whole deal. :D

PS: We need Myssa Rei’s reaction to Colored Tsundere Jason-ko.

  8. i really want to see the final chapter now!

oh maybe you guys can do a comic on how code geass should be with Jason as leader of the team. (now that is something to look forward too)

oh and everyone knows that your a Bisexal DFC Jason there is no reason to hide it i mean that is why you put up that yoai pic in code geass and all these loli pictures.

  9. oi if you guys (want or) need some one to for coloring or dawning help I’d be interested.

Sure, why not? Take an image from the Heart’s Content site, color or tone it, and send it to sixten (at) houseofsixten (dot) com. If Jason and I are suitably impressed, we’ll send you an inked image along with further instructions, and let you go to town.

How long does it take to shade a page?

If you mean “how long it takes to properly screentone an inked manga page”, I really don’t know, because I haven’t tried it. I estimate maybe 2 to 3 hours. But to give you an idea of my speed, the Miao-Sensei pictures take about 1 hour to color. The banner at the top of Jason’s site took about 12 hours. And a painterly picture that is essentially all shading, such as this, takes about 24. These figures do not include the time it takes to draw and ink the picture.

you refer to yourself as a melonpanriffic vampire?

Only my embarrassment is like Karin. On the rare occasions that I draw a cartoon avatar representing myself, I choose either a Swedish elementary school boy (Sixten, from the Catti Edfeldt movie) or an Australian water-holding frog (Cyclorana platycephala).

Errr… I was commenting on your writing, not on the actual story and characters. Unless the characterization is meant to be bland as part of the story, then I suppose I should stop here.

  11. >> Errr… I was commenting on your writing, not on the actual story and characters.

Well, in that case, all I’m going to say is that there’s many ways to write. There’s the Robert Jordan “describe the pattern of laces” way and the Ernest Hemingway “I still have no frickin’ clue if the character is wearing a hat or not” way. And, of course, the Tanigawa Nagaru “Wait, I’ll just let Noizi Ito handle it” way.

  12. Ah yes, the “A picture tells a 1,000 moes” method.

  13. ithekro: Ah yes, the “A picture tells a 1,000 moes” method.

    Sorta like this sorta picture?

  14. “This kind of picture” even.

PS: It’s not nearly as cute as Safe Mode Nagato, but few things are.

  15. Not all writing “styles” are created equal.

  16. This is awesome! I’ll be following this.

  17. To Kaze,

I have received your colored picture and have exposed it to the harsh eyes of judgment. Prepare yourself.

  18. sweet. any excuse to brush up on my cg kung fu during the school break is awesome in my book.
