Yuji gets a small reprieve as Shana saves him from Wilhelmina ‘s grasp. But for how long?
Before Wilhelmina can terminate Yuji, Shana predictably arrives and saves him. Alastor and Shana manage to convince Wilhelmina to spare him for now, which only confuses the heck out of Wilhelmina .
Meanwhile, Raging Heart directs Yoshida who catches Shana and Yuji having a lover’s quarrel. Yuji tells Shana that he’s leaving town to protect it, but Shana throws a hissy fit and wants him to stay. Yuji, confused, marches away. Alastor asks Shana the million dollar question: “Why do you want to be close to Yuji?”
Yoshida catches Yuji and asks if it is true that he’s leaving. “Thank you, Yoshida-san, your feelings made me very happy. But, sorry, I’ve decided.” Ike and Eita sneak up on the two, and feeling a bit betrayed by Margery, they want to go with Yuji. Everyone’s miserable and angsty this night.
The next day, everyone gathers around the bonfire to see if Yuji’s prediction would come true, and in grand fashion, burning of the birds summon Belle Masque’s fortress (“summoning is complete”). Wilhelmina decides that she must, after all, destroy Yuji now and respawn Reiji Maigo, attacks Yuji only to have Yuji saved by Sydonay. Wilhelmina tries again, and Shana jumps in front of attack this time. Ouch. Shana is left bloodied by the riverband, and Sydonay captures Yuji.
Cue Aka no Seijaku.
(Don’t watch the next episode preview. They give away waaaaaay too much for this show.)
Belle Masque is a symbol of precision and teamwork when compared to the flame hazes right now. They had a plan and followed through. Meanwhile, Wilhelmina ‘s inability to understand why Yuji is so precious to Shana and Shana’s own inability to understand why Yuji is so precious to her only bring more grief than good. None of the humans nor flame hazes seem very happy as everyone has been preoccupied with something other than the Bell Masque– which always means, “good time to attack.” To his credit, Yuji seems to be the only person more concerned with the tomogara than anyone else.
I’m also not sure who is more dense. Shana still can’t admit her feelings for Yuji, and Yuji still doesn’t understand how Shana feels towards him. It’s not a winning combination. Their relationship has really not changed since the ahern episode. Everyone else around them — Yoshida, Eita, and Ike — have all grown and changed since this time.
The funniest moment, of course, is when Eita refers to Wilhelmina as “What’s up with that meido?” Cracked me up for some odd reason. Methinks Wilhelmina stands out a bit too much in normal society… even without her vacuum.
Overall a very melodramatic episode with a lot of angst tossed-in. However, now I’m really interested in how the story resolves itself, and it really sets the plate for some flame haze ass kickin’ next episode. If only Yuji could get a gohobi.
You know… Wilhemina spends so much time trying to kill Yuuji to keep him out of the Balle Masque’s hands that she kinda forgot that the Balle Masque was THERE… and in doing so gets Yuuji captured. Oops.
My friend!
Don’t do that please, at least say something about Shakugan no Shana here or in your blog… anyway.
I was hoping for this, I mean, Shana doing something crazy for Yuuji, like jumping between him and Wilhemina in order to save him. And also Yuuji feeling he was only a simple tool for Shana, nothing else and nothing more. Now Yuuji has to feel something, come on! Shana saves his life without second thoughts, disobeying another Flame Haze, her tutor indeed, because she doesn’t find yet the answer to Alastor question, but deep inside her she new it very well.
You’re right, they kill the atmosphere with the preview, one thing they didn’t do before.
Anyway, I can’t wait for next week’s episode
omfg this episode was so fucking good. seriously
Ya I accidently watched the previews for the next episode… so wish I didn’t it really ruined the ending. >_
Err forgot to add this one.. is it me or is Balle Masque kinda hot?
Why they put that BIG spoiler? whenever you want just a hint of what was coming they didn’t put it, but when you dont even wish for a spoiler of that magnitud they go on and PUT IT ….whats wrong with them?……
Even though with all the classic and predictable scenes this is a very good episode.
i dunno about the spoiler cuz I didn’t see it, but I didn’t like the episode that much. Much too predictable for me. I knew before they showed it that Shana was going to sacrifice herself for Yuji… now I just hope they’ll get somewhere with their relationship now…and expecting Margery to come back.
