breaking the female readers
This blog has been pretty damn successful in breaking the male readers. Since Derailed really isn’t setup for the female demographic, I never bothered investigating the possibility of breaking them. Until now.
In yet another reason to love Canada, researchers at the University of Toronto have discovered that women are more aroused by women than men:
“Dr. Chivers asked her subjects to rate their own arousal to the videos they watched, the women, whether gay or straight, tended to give higher ratings to films showing women. ‘Heterosexual women are responding to women, which is counterintuitive,’ Dr. Chivers said. ‘Why are women so turned on by watching other women?'”
Mmm…
.
..
…
!!!
Enjoy.
(Finally, for anyone who still has blood in their brains, did you catch this tidbit: “Dr. Chivers and her colleagues found women slightly but significantly aroused by footage of bonobo chimps mating. Men showed no such response.”)
Got to remember this when my female friend finds my yuri collection.
Ah yes Kotomi I want moreeeeee.
too bad, I’m a guy
>.> really need an edit button
*edit*
Got to remember this when my female friend finds my yuri collection.
“uhh, no honey this isn’t for me, this is for you!”
“Since Derailed really isn’t setup for the female demographic, I never bothered investigating the possibility of breaking them. Until now.”
you sir, are a monster or a genius… I will follow you to the Gate’s of Hell!!!
I’m a female reader.
I find females more arousing than males to a certain degree, it’s true. But you are making mistakes:
1. I only like 2D girls (and only 3D men).
2. I like some lolicon, but no blatant fanservice. And especially no big breasts.
3. I don’t fap to 2D stuff and never get aroused myself when there is no story involved. (And I think quite a lot of girls who masturbate don’t use anything visual at all either.)
Conclusion: Girls don’t like looking at the same kind of fanservice as guys. They like pictures of (aroused) female anime characters, when they can identify themselves with them to some extent. Go read Mayu Shinjo manga and stuff released by the scanlation group Lililicious, those are geared towards women.
Among all the stuff you’ve shown, there is one single good picture, for me. Go figure.
A few comments:
1) Cagalli there is WAY too busty to be the tomboy she was in the first series, and she wasn’t that busty in the second. Doesn’t work.
2) Lala’s figure is firmer than THAT. Those breasts belong on Mikado-sensei, who really IS that big.
3) Nayuki isn’t that big, and her eyes don’t look quite like that.
4) Ditto Shirley. RIP, Ms. Fenette. Also, this picture is lacking Millay ‘gauging their sizes’ with a distracted expression.
I don’t think this collection will break any of the women here, who are broken for other reasons. Thank you, Mako-chan.
One other note: the study indicates that the women are reacting to things THEY find sexy with female to female… and these images are targeted at heterosexual males or bisexual/lesbians. Needs more sexiness to get the vimmin breaking.
Sir, you overestimate yourself. We female readers are coming here pre-broken. ;)
LOL Dr. Chivers. Dense much? Centuries of denying female sexual agency (self as forbidden fruit) + decades of pop media saturated by the male gaze (constant bombardment of messages that bewbs are hawt) = IS IT ANY WONDER that het women are turned on by other women?!
All right. I’m sorry, Jason. I promise never to post any radical feminazi bitchings in your blog again.
It’s a pretty good collection…
BTW how am i supposed to respond to Kino?
?
Not feeling anything Jason.
Thank you for proving my point. These pictures are titillating, not sexy.
I don’t know what your female readers feel, but I’m pretty aroused by all of the pictures in this post.
Thank you Jason, for reassuring me that I’m still quite normal. :D
I think that is suppose to be Nayuki’s mom, not Nayuki.
And for a second I thought Kino was Touma.
Something about a study, something about women on women… and I think something about a monkey.
Nope, completely derailed. Or was that the point?
One last thing, we need a study to see how women respond to broken men…
Hahahahahaha…. I read that article too. Way back in like March or something. I was supposed to be house sitting. But I let the only person the people didn’t want into the house while I was enjoying “quality reading” and uhhh “sampling” their alchohol collection. I remember the part about the chimps. Vaguely.
KyoAni are way ahead of the pack as usual – they have now joined the broken world…
I approve of this experiment.
>Thank you for proving my point. These pictures are titillating, not sexy.
Anymore than this and Jason will turn into the next Heisei Democracy.
Hmmm. Nope, nothing, sorry. I have had some lesbian dreams. But that’s all you’re getting from me – I don’t find any of these enough for one of those dreams ;)
(I’m guessing this comment will come back to haunt me one day.)
I, for one, am not happy to hear that heterosexual women are more aroused by other women. Between this and the advances made in fertilization, we men are officially obsolete.
>>I, for one, am not happy to hear that heterosexual women are more aroused by other women. Between this and the advances made in fertilization, we men are officially obsolete.
Well, at least we can look forward to the future where they’ll be plenty of hawt, lesbian action for us to enjoy, a la Simoun. :P
@Myssa
Really, nothing? hmmmm…. I begin the motion for conducting more experiments! For the sake of testing samples in a different setting and for the sake of brokenness! :D
@W4
That would still be far off into the future… However I think its very possible to have an all female populace. After all males are only vital to the contribution of the y sex chromosome which determines the sex of a child. All somatic genes (non sex genes) can be gathered from an individual. (ie. cloning) It is a very scary future indeed…
oh.. and more kotomi in the next experiment please… :))
From Haesslich:
“One other note: the study indicates that the women are reacting to things THEY find sexy with female to female… and these images are targeted at heterosexual males or bisexual/lesbians. Needs more sexiness to get the vimmin breaking.”
I agree… We need sexier pictures.
If I’m reading the article correctly the closer to actual sex the video displays the more woman get aroused, regardless of gender. I’m not sure Jason’s actually allowed to post outright XXX material here or how much wiggle room is involved, so it might not be possible to fully test it, but it would be amusing to see the reaction, at least.
Also, for Myssa’s sake I’d suggest throwing in some Kyonko for the next batch. Maybe (female) HaruhixKyonko for extra mindscrew powers.
This must be why they don’t bother making many porno mags for women – motionless pictures do nothing for us, despite the delicious curves.
The article is clear: what we need is delicious curves on the move.
You get on that Jason.
Hmm. This may end up as being counter productive. In the process of breaking female readers you’ll be supplying male readers with good sources of fanservice. So by the time the females are broken the males are unbroken =) until you do it the other way around.
But hey what do I care. Preetttyyy colourssss =p
This experiment has proved nothing other than the fact that Jason’s readers are Jason’s readers.
…
I agree, more risque pictures next time.
I burned my eyes looking at these pics…^^
Hmm, women are aroused by seeing other women doing it…then I guess we have something in common cause I myself do get aroused at seeing women doing it with other women…umm, preferably in a perfect trifecta format pls…^^
Holy cow, is that Tamaki-nee(5th pic)??? and with Lol fang-tan goodness too…damn, I guess Suzumiya Haruhi-san is right; It’s good to see that “very” healthy girls are still around us desho desho…^^
I want to emphasize that this isn’t an one post attempt. Like with the male readers, this will be a slow, on-going, nurturing process.
>> Hmm. This may end up as being counter productive. In the process of breaking female readers you’ll be supplying male readers with good sources of fanservice.
Don’t worry. Once broken, always broken. Though to break even more male readers, I revised this post slightly.
>> Sir, you overestimate yourself. We female readers are coming here pre-broken.
Well, I assumed as much. Why else would any female reader visit a site specialized on meido, Sunrise, and bullying Kotomi-chan?
>> 3) Nayuki isn’t that big, and her eyes don’t look quite like that.
Utter fail. I even tagged this post kanon:akiko.
>> I, for one, am not happy to hear that heterosexual women are more aroused by other women. Between this and the advances made in fertilization, we men are officially obsolete.
Don’t worry. We’re safe until science can develop a robot that’ll follow them around shopping and tell them that they’re not getting fat when, obviously, they are.
What series is that girl with blonde hair and red and green eyes from?
what manga is that top image from anyway? art looks like milan.
You can try posting as many sexy hawt women as you want but this is one reader that was already broken to the point of ashes when she was only in the single digits. Even if it wasn’t by nurture, it was going to be by nature. If you want to break female and male reader I suggest posting fem versions of the guys. Then again maybe having them just crossdress is enough.
where the OP picture from? Seems familiar yet can’t quite place it.
Female reader here, and I’m going to say that those pictures are not going to break anyone (while I thought the saber picture was cute, the rest of them had a pretty bad quality). I personally am a person who finds oversize breasts annoying and is willing to hunt through a hoard to h-doujins to get to the artbook that I want. You’re really going to have to do better than that to break girls. (and why is kino there?)

Kino and Vivio should not be used for evil ends.
Please, think of the children.
Jason: That still don’t look like Akiko. Most of those girls look like a guy who’s never so much as seen a woman in person, much less one naked, drew them.
Exactly. Those pictures aren’t sexy, and are barely titillating. Most of them don’t look like the characters at all, and the proportions are off… so they’re like some random h-game characters cosplaying as Akiko, Cagalli, etc. Saber and Shizuru are probably the closest to their normal look, and even Shizuru’s face is kinda off.
As for Kino? Well, Kino’s supposed to be even more boyish than Cagalli, so that fails right there. And like hinode notes, it’s the ACT of sex which was arousing rather than the fact that they were women that did it… so pictures of naked women alone aren’t likely to do it. Or even Hazumu, whose figure is inflated to balloon-like proportions… and Lala, whose breasts are too malleable to be fat bound together with cartilage and tendon.
Look like they were drawn by a guy who’s never seen a girl in person, even.
Jason.
Let’s cure them by breaking them with traps.
Who’s the threesome?
The braid is distinctly Akiko’s. I’m pretty sure Nayuki never had one.
Look like they were drawn by a guy who’s never seen a girl in person, even.
This is true of 99% of ecchi/hentail artwork though. If you can mentally translate a standard Key character design into generic hentai anime/doujin art it’ll be pretty close to what Jason posted.
I don’t find the style appealing myself, but there are enough shows that adopt it outright for their female characters *cough*Gundam 00*cough*Geass*cough* that I’m desensitized to it by now.
Ithekro: In order, they’re Yasuna, Hazumu, and Tomari from Kashimashi. Hazumu’s breasts are drawn too large there, ditto Yasuna.
hinode: Some people like breasts to have something like… y’know… SHAPE instead of being like large plastic bags filled with water and with nipples on them. And at least Millay’s breasts there had a shape and some sense that they were firm, unlike Lala’s, Akiko’s, or any of the others drawn above whose breasts behave less like breasts and more like bags of jello which would sag as soon as the girl stood up if it was in ‘real life’ or if it had been drawn by someone who understood anatomy or how human beings are really drawn/shaped.
If you’re intending to break femalre readers (who btw are most likely already into all kinds of sh*t of hentai and yaoi, me included) showing images geared towards male readers is not the way to do it. In my experience, I have enjoyed seeing an anime lady when she’s doing it, because I can identify myself with her (doesn’t apply to rape doujins). Mere pictures like this only work with guys, sorry.
And on a personal opinion this images look more slutty than not, and I don’t like slutty (in fact I would like to punch all this girls).
Veredict: FAIL <— because I want to encourage you
What? heterosexual women are aroused when looking at heterosexual sex scenes?
That would mean women have a *shock*sex drive*shock* …
Good luck breaking your female readers Jason.
I only like the picture of Kino, in a non-sexual way of course. I loved Kino no Tabi, the series had a great atmosphere…. but oh god, Akiko-san’s boobs look like nikuman! I think this is a case of “What has been seen cannot be unseen”?
Anyway, as a male, I’m not turned on by these images. Now does that make me broken or not broken? Just shoot me, I don’t care anymore.
I think we can take something else from this experiment: Even if you give women exactly what they want, they still won’t be satisfied. Still, you shouldn’t stop trying because of a bunch of nay-sayers.
Good luck breaking your female readers Jason.

Off topic I know, but it seems we cannot post comments with links in them or else we’ll get the “Your comment is awaiting moderation” message?
At least I think so… it’s slightly annoying though. :p
Jason, we need to further this experiment to the next level!!!
@Naddie
“I’m guessing this comment will come back to haunt me one day.”
please, I was broken by Mako-chan… now that will probably haunt me back one day…
OOh, the one before last, why can’t all women’s shirts be like that?
But the triple-play team is mighty tempting.
BTW, that girl with the cat-tail… isn’t the tail’s source -erm- too “low”?
Y’know… maybe it’s because I was broken long before finding this blog, but lesbian porn never did anything for me. I’d see those two women (or 3, 4 or 25, depending on the movie) and think, “Great. More women with which I have no chance.” ¬_¬
Y’know… I could argue on either side of this argument. We males have provided a wealth of examples to prove our obsolescence in both social and reproductive matters. On the other hand, I like the occasional nookie and don’t want to die. Surely you can see my intellectual dilemma. ^_^
Yep… this is definitely our blogger. This does little to ease my fears of the entire male gender being on the endangered list.
women are more aroused by women than men
I swear the first time I read this I interpreted it as
women are more aroused by women than men are aroused by women
I was quite intrigued…
And then I started looking at all the boobs and promptly forgot about semantics. I think I like this new trend
Jason, I always wondered about your gender. I couldn’t figure out whether you were a boy or girl… until now. You’re definitely a boy, judging by your comments on posts. Would a girl ever write such things? I don’t think so. Not even a lesbian.
Tossing in the kashimashi one was just plain evil. However, for a non-broken male (and probably one of the last ones still here) that was a low blow, even for you.
Sophie: WHY SO SERIOUS?
Interesting study, but C. S. Lewis beat them to it by 50+ years: in “That Hideous Strength” he had his lead female character musing, “Did men and women both feel interested in the female body and even, though it sounded ridiculous, in almost the same way?” (p. 62 of mass market edition, courtesy of Amazon).
I don’t think I’m broken yet
Although I do like that Kino picture. Doesn’t help that she looks more like a guy >_>
My three favorite trends:
1. Good to see Haess trying to cover up his epic fail by complaining about the artwork. Nice try. Admit you are wrong and then pray to the anime MILF shrine 100 times.
2. All the guys asking about “Hey, what series is this scantily clad character from?”
3. All the gals telling me to do better. YES WE CAN!
>> You’re really going to have to do better than that to break girls. (and why is kino there?)
Just as I planned!
(Also, FYI, I added a new anti-spam plug-in, so the number of comments held for moderation has gone up.)
@Sophie
“Jason, I always wondered about your gender. I couldn’t figure out whether you were a boy or girl… until now.”
there are still some people in denial, ever since Sixten introduced Jason-ko the world has never been the same… it could be years of theraphy before they can admit she is a boy… dammit!!!
The Kyonko facepalm works at this point.
http://i36.photobucket.com/alb.....alm001.gif
So. Many. Uses.
I guess someone has already pointed it out but…
Haesslich, that’s not Nayuki, is Akiko-san ^_^
Girl here.
And I don’t know if this is
brokensane enough for your blog but why do I find Luluko hotter than any of the bewbs here?why do I find Luluko hotter than any of the bewbs here?
Cuz s/he’s always drawn CLAMP style?
Jason: When the girls are complaining about the artwork too and about how it’s not even CLOSE to turning them on (along with some of the guys), you’ve got a problem. Better luck next time. Remember – it’s REAL women having sex which turn women on, not these weirdly-drawn humanoid figures with bags of water where breasts are supposed to be. She’s drawn badly enough that she didn’t even trigger the MiLF trigger, much less the character recognition.
As people have said, most female anime watchers are so used to gratuitous cheesecake that it fails to have an impact after awhile, given the content of even mainstream anime. All it gets is a “oh, boobs (again), meh”. I’m not sure it’s possible to break female readers in the same sense as you’ve been doing with the guys.
Kino was unexpected, definitely unexpected. That said, so when will the next segment of this experiment take place? Will this be a monthly event? Weekly? Daily? I need to know these thing!
Woo. Firestorm in here.
But seriously, which manga is the top image from? I recognize it from somewhere, but I can’t place it. It’s bugging the hell out of me.
Best. Post. Ever.
Unfortunately I have to agree with the theories that woman are more aroused by women. :(
Why I think that? Read some Blue Drop’s mangas because that theory is what made that series ;)
I think its more worrying that I could identify pretty much every picture except for the opening (though I did stuff up Gundam for To Love Ru for a moment there. But you cant blame me – I havnt watched either one. Or Kino’s Travels. Or any To Heart. And yet I still managed to identify them)…. all before reading the tags.
A part of me is wondering what Jason is up to. Is it like breaking something ceramic? Rapidly heating it before rapidly cooling?
Oh, Hey! Kotomi is playing Basketball!
No post can enter epic territory unless Haess is in complete denial over something while bashing something unrelated as a desperate and futile attempt to save his ass. The funny thing is that everyone else hasn’t had a problem identifying Akiko. So what if the images didn’t arouse the girls as much as Mako-cakes arouses Haess? At least they were able to properly identify Akiko.
Admit you are wrong and find penance by posting a hundred Akiko images.
>> A part of me is wondering what Jason is up to. Is it like breaking something ceramic? Rapidly heating it before rapidly cooling?
That, Mr. Anderson, is the sound of inevitability.
Now this has gone on to an epic proportions…^^
Hmm, from what I’ve read on people’s previous post, there has been some issues that arises from the following: size of boobies, “real” women, and women “stimulation/arousal” points. I’ll try to rationalize this (as oppose to figuring out the plot for Code Geass..^^)
From what I’ve read on our unnoffical bible of Man’s Guidebook to Women, there are 5 types of boobies:
a. Perky
b. Sagging
c. DFC
d. Round…and
e. Just Right
Converting that to H-Doujin plus the artist nationality (Japs, American, Chinese and others), we can determine whether the artist has seen a real women in his lifetime. For example, the pic of Akiko when translated to real-life version would be the equivalent to Pamela Anderson level of boobies. Now applying the law of H equivalency then it must be concluded that any artist that draws “Akiko” whether or not it is or looks like Akiko is still Akiko when the artist say so (besides, I wouldn’t disagree. Imagine a world where there is no H-doujin artist exist…very sad no?). I must respectfully conclude that from further analyzation (aka. looking at the artworks for 5 seconds without blinking) that the said artworks are in high quality condition (class B to A easy)…^^
Hmm, “real” women ey? Jason, the only you failed in posting the artworks above is that they are in static form. Meaning that they are not in the act of “doing it”. Whether though they are in 2D or 3D makes little difference cause once looking at it will make you think about it on whether it is within your taste or not. From my experiences with the female kind before, for them to be lured to the dark side of the force (aka. Girl to Girl), one must show them the value of kissing. With toungue. And simulteanously hitting the 3 erogenous zones…and you know what’s next anyway…^^
Arousal is a matter of perception. Just like saying a lemon is just a lemon unless your drinking them off from another person’s glass…^^
Oh, and I rather not think too much that we men are going to be extinct. Less of us == more of them. Simple economics of supply and demand…^^
Oh, and btw Haess: “weirdly-drawn humanoid figures with bags of water where breasts are supposed to be” are the lifeblood of anime. It is like spitting on your mother’s milk. Shame on you Haess…hahahaha…^^
In the meanwhile, I’m still rooting for you to put up Kyonko (and other bent-genders) as well as crossdressers. And pull a “Dude looks like a lady” and “Even the guys want him.”
And Hosaka. There needs to be a Hosaka.
Maximum breakage works both ways.
Kukuku. You think you can break anyone with images of that low a resolution?
So what will be the next experient, Doctor?
Smaller bust sizes?
Traps?
Epic Traps?
Hosaka?
Haruka?
Genderbent?
Bad Movies? Wait….
I’ve got it! The perfect way to break your female readers!
You broke your male readers with Mako-cakes, Luluko and Kyonko, right? Well, if you want to break your female readers, turn attractive anime women into bishounnen anime males!
Note that the converted names below will need a bit of work, but the examples below should drive the point home forcefully.
Tiffania -> Biff
Kyou -> Kyp
Tomoyo -> Todd
Mion -> Mike
Shion -> Sancho
Haruhi -> Hank
Akiko -> Andrew
Sayoko -> Sam
This will be sure to break your female readers… as well as some of the male readers, too. >8D
I dunno, from what I’ve seen I think genderbending and crossdressing turn into fangirl fodder pretty quickly. The Geass fangirls on livejournal took to genderbending pretty quickly, for instance.
Then again that may just prove that they’re broken to start with.
I think only reverse traps will work. I still can’t fully accept the fact that Kino and Kyubei (Gintama) are girls.
>>I think only reverse traps will work. I still can’t fully accept the fact that Kino and Kyubei (Gintama) are girls.
I don’t know about others. But reverse traps definitely work for me.
So that would mean it’s Touma Time.
… What exactly qualifies as “broken?” As I understand, a broken guy is someone who knows that a character is “male” but finds that character attractive anyway (since that character essentially looks like a girl anyway). So broken guys like guys that look like girls. And broken girls like girls that look like guys?
Anyway, some of the pictures were… uh… nice, but most of the proportioning just isn’t to my taste. (I think I like Kotomi best, though Shirley’s good too.)
For all the people who keep asking about the first pic. Its the chick from Hinamori something-mori. He mentioned it Way back as generic harem manga #(some high number). Like way back as in GL days. Around the end of GL days.
I don’t know if this is breaking any of your female readers but this seems to be patching up my brokeness. If humpty dumpty had seen this post he would have had no problem putting himself back together again…without the help of all the kings men(maybe a few of the kings ladies might be needed).
You know how to break female readers?
Sailor Uranus/Haruka.
Or, me and my anime girl friend are positive that once FFXIII comes out, leagues of fangirls are going to have to question their sexuality because of the leading lady.
We are both straight!
NUCLEAR LAUNCH DETECTED.
[drool]///
jason, in the SC vein. Your efforts are, as of now, insufficient. YOU MUST CONSTRUCT ADDITIONAL PYLONS.
I’m female, and straight, sorry…
But I already had that picture of Shirley saved.
…Don’t judge me.
Female reader here. I’m bi, and like yuri and the like, but I only found one of these pictures actually arousing, this one: http://derailedbydarry.com/ima.....r/0104.jpg
I know you can do better Jason. ;)
I just had a dangerous thought. Genderbend Hosaka and Haruka. ???? Profit!
Also, I see a tag for Nanoha, but I failed to identify any of the Nanoha girls, with the exception of the heterochromia blonde, who seems to look like Fate. Although I don’t recall her having a red and green eye. But in any case, I ain’t complaining. Fukkin saved
What’s the manga on the first picture???
P.S. Just want to know.
